Faccia has the best pizza in SC by a country mile (some of the best pizza I've had in the US).

That said, it's well outisde town, so if ass dan (good work on the name) is looking for *classic* State College I'd recommend against Faccia and in favor of downtown/campus spots already discussed.

Well outside town? Its like a mile down Atherton.

  • First Off, Penn State is an oasis in the middle of Apalachia. Think dueling banjos and the movie Deliverance (look it up if your not in the 40+ crowd). Some politicians describe Central Pennsylvania, the area between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia as "Alabama". Probably not too far off.

Second, State College is like a Beach Town without the sand! Lot's of great things here. Cosmopolitan-like with everything student-fun to do and then some.

Lots of good advice from the posters here. Enjoy your visit!

It's only like that if you get off the interstates.

Pro tip: Don't get off the interstates unless you're about to run out of gas.

Just goes to confirm my point. Fill up before your trip so you don't need to stop at one of our rural interstate exits to fill up.

I got off in Lewistown a few weeks ago only to realize the gas stations aren't 24 hours. Took 5 tries to find one that was open. First time I didn't get gas before leaving State College and it bit me in the ass.

What? Are you not recommending he stop in beautiful Port Matilda? You also can get some Clem's BBQ around that area too (though I think you can get it downtown, but prob. not the same).

It is either Chumley's or End Zone. You choose what sounds like the better option.

You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

Lewistown does not have a Sheetz?

Bellwood Sheetz has bailed me out a few times on trips to/from SC.

The deli is an awesome place to eat! Their Cajun mayo is the best condiment I've ever had. Love mad mex. the autoport hotel:bar is a quieter spot on north atherton if u need a break from crowds. Wings over happy valley for cheap eats. Nittany lion in bar/restaurant has awesome affordable food for lunch and the best lobster bisque you will ever have.

Where is wings over in happy valley?
