I'm sure many of you have seen this strange story that is unfolding today and originally broken by Deadspin. As more and more layers of the onion get peeled back I think it gives more credence to how vulnerable we all are online and in social media. It is disturbing and fascinating at the same time. I'd love to hear what others have to say on the matter. Oh...potshots at our favorite ESPN for hiring this woman sight unseen are welcome as well.

Holy hell.
How did a 22 year old let things get so out of hand? She has some serious immaturity issues, to say the least. She's in a world of trouble though, for fraud at the very least.
Plus, since she used her real name, no employer would ever want to hire a girl who has been found guilty of fraud and has threatened to "make people pay" over the interenet.
How did her father not realize she was sending and receiving thousands of dollars through his mailing address?

Not that most already didn't know, but seeing the details of how these people are paid as a percentage of volume/views/pages, the next time some idiot like Gregg Doyel writes something inflammatory so it gets read, please don't link it here or anywhere.

We are all forgetting the biggest revelation in this entire story. Apparantly, not only are there people that actually watch the WNBA but people also BET on it. She was a WNBA betting experf?!?! That would be my first red flag!

Also for all those on Twitter you should follow Fake Dan Beebe (@danbeebe). A hilarious account that went after Sarah Phillips pretty hard. Example - @DanBeebe: Of course, if Sarah wants a job where she can do nothing but pretend about things in the world of sports, I'm sure the NCAA is hiring.

The thing is, she clearly is not into sports. At least, not any more than the typical 22 year old female "sports fan". I'm not saying that there aren't huge female sports fans at her age that know there stuff, but I'm willing to bet that they care less about the "girly" things than Sarah does.
Let's be honest here... people fell for it because they wanted to believe that there was this hot, single 22 year old who could "hang with the guys". They overlooked the obvious flags for that reason. It's as simple as that.
