OT: New Nike NFL uniforms revealed...

  • Seattle Seahawks the only team receiving a major alteration. I'll admit that I expected more chaos.

NFL, Nike roll out new uniforms for 32 teams | NFL.com

The NFL and Nike rolled out new-look uniforms Tuesday at the NFL pop-up store in New York, with representatives from all 32 teams on hand to model the fresh-faced gear.

I just watched the Giants video explaining the changes, the equipment manager said to expect changes in 2013 but gave no further elaboration.

I saw on ESPN that the NFL only allows major uniform redesigns once every five years, so many teams weren't permitted to make major alterations yet. I'm sure that they will be in abundance in the next few years.

  • Seahawks get the massive change? Good call by Nike on that one. If they mess up its not like anyone will see them.

Not me. They never should have gone away from their original colors and Uni's.

that I agree with. This is an upgrade over the most recent version.

  • Would like to see the Steelers go back to the jerseys they had in the 70s: block numbers and no Steelers patch on the jersey...is that really needed? We all know who the Steelers are, no need to have the patch.

  • If the NFL goes the way of the pro combats, count me out as a fan......

  • I, for one, love the new Seahawks uniforms. I think they are a restrained, logical and well refined version of what Nike did at the college level. I'm a designer myself and when reading Nike's in depth description of what each little detail meant and where it came from i respected what they did even more. You can call it BS if you like but using the geographical and natural characteristics of the pacific northwest and some of the native american heritage in the subtle way they did is very nicely done in my opinion.

The fact that a few teams, like the Eagles, declined to adopt the new technology this year leads me to believe they be in line for a big redesign next year...which I would welcome. Could really see them doing some great things with the symbolic nature of the Eagle and the historical significance of the city of Philadelphia while going back to the kelly green the fans already prefer.

The Seahawks uniforms are slightly less ugly then the previous ones. Most Hawk fans would prefer to go back to the original colors and Uni's and rightfully so.

  • I could care less about the NFL (except how PSU players are doing), but Nike is on a whole different level than Reebok.

Agree about Seattle. The Broncos should go back to their old colors and logo also.

They'll probably try doing something like that down the road. The vast majority of fans look for a "wow" factor when it comes to uniforms and such, I'm with you though, I'm not in that group. I don't like the pro combat unis in college and can't imagine what they'd look like in the NFL. If anything, they should just do throwbacks on a yearly basis and that's it but most teams seem to do a throwback of some sort now-a-days.

Ya, I agree. I never liked the new logo. At least they are going back to the orange jerseys.

I also think New England and Tampa Bay should revert back as well.

And they're close to home in the PNW. I expect the uniform revolution to start in that region then trickle out to the league in a similar fashion as Oregon led Pro Combat and others followed.

The old Pats unis rule. The orange creamsicle Bucs unis...I'm not a fan at least. I miss the Oilers unis and the Rams/Seahawks royal blue.

  • Seems to me that the Seahawks are the local guinea pigs. No team in Oregon, so they are trying it on a "local" team. I think within the next two years you could see some BIG changes! As long as they don't look like Georgias Pro Combats, then I am ok with it. Kelly Green for the Eagles would be great!

  • Of course teams want to wait a year to get their redesigns. They will see a bump in jersey sales THIS YEAR simply because it is now Nike. Then, next year, they can "double dip" with the redesign.
