OT: NHL Playoffs Thread

Quick ... his team beat the #1 seed in the whole league.

If you watched the games, you would've seen that he didn't have to do much though. Vancouver was beyond bad.

Mike Smith was head and shoulders above Quick.

    Game 7

    +1000000

Nice getting Hagelin back and getting the lines back to normal.

    We will win.

  • Kevin Smith was dominant last night. Hey made some HUGE saves to keep the Blackhawks off of the board. I was really upset about the Sens and Rangers game. The Sens dominated the entire game but those damn Rangers just wont die.

Yep. Similar to many Rags games, they are the worse team outside of the goalie (and the Sens goalie has been very good in his own right). Hank stole both games 3 and 6 when the Sens were better in the other facets of the game. That's why the Rags are very very dangerous.

Time for one great game by the Caps and Sens!

Agreed about St. Louis being a dangerous player in the NHL post-season.

Personally, I'm hoping for the LA Kings and Flyers to face off. Carter and Richards both play for LA now...wouldn't that make for an interesting dynamic in the Stanley Cup Finals.

It would be great. But if Richie and Carter lifted a cup in Philly, I might jump off the Ben Franklin.

Yeah the Rags were definitely being outplayed in the most recent game in every asset. You cant deny Hank, he is the best goalie in the league. I sure hope the Flyers dont play them in the next round. After the brutal series with Pittsburgh id much rather take a Florida Panther team any day

That jerk cost me some money in fantasy football by stealing snaps from Jahvid Best.

haha, I agree. That definitely would be quite ironic but I think we'd hold our own vs. the Kings.

I think the Flyers are a decent bit better than the Kings, but who knows. If they make it that far and the defense/Bryz don't improve, the Kings might be the better team. They have looked fantastic since Carter moved there at the deadline.

Either way, gotta get through round two!

Vancouver was supposed to be a decent bit better than the Kings as well. A hot goalie can take you a long way. Quick is good enough to steal a series from the Flyers, if they meet.

  • As long as an Eastern team wins, I'll be okay with it. I don't want to see any of that boring trap hockey from the West getting rewarded.

Hopefully the big guns in the West can re-tool over the summer and poke holes through those sleep-inducing boring defensive systems next year.

A hot goalie had nothing to do with the Kings winning. Vancouver just got outplayed from top to bottom.

I understand this; it does not change my opinion that the Flyers are a bit better right now than the Kings.

  • I was at the Sens game last night. Great atmosphere. That lapse at the end of the second really costs us. My friend was sitting next to Krieder's parents and congratulated them after he scored.

  • I still have faith in Bryz and the Defense. They showed what they are capable of in Game 6.

This was gonna be a phsyical, but offensive series. Two high powered offenses. Both teams were looking to win a track meet. This style of play allowed for a lot of defensive lapses. The last game though the Flyers cracked down and decided not to play loose. If they play like they did in game 6 for the rest of the playoffs then they will make some noise.

I agree! Young mixed with a few vets that have been here before but more imortant is our goalies! Just a great duo.

two factors that help the flyers defense for next series is the return of Grossman AND Andrej Meszaros! When he went down meszaros was their second best defender and he also brings a lot of offense for a blueliner. I dont want to sound like too much of a homer, but things are trending up for the flyers..

.. of course all of this can be derailed by a bad series from Bryz, but im cautiously optimistic
