OT: NHL Playoffs Thread

Most flyers guys have said the same thing as though it's fact. Not sure why everyone else is so sure. One shutdown game by Bryz (haha) or, more likely, one just mental flop by the pens will end the series. Sure, game six might be more likely to go the pens way, but not sure why so many think it's a foregone conclusion.

i agree. gotta take it one game at a time if your both teams. weve all seen momentum swing back a forth in series before. its sports, sometimes teams just dont show up

And the pens are better at home.

Not when they play the Flyers. I'm sticking with my earlier predicition of the Flyers in 5.

  • I think if pens win game 5 it will be because fleury actually looks like he is starting to play well.

I am a firm believer in MO. Pens win 2 in a row and the flyers may start playing desperate. The pressure will be high in game 6. Lose and you face 7 and the pressure of blowing a 3-0 lead.

IMO the Penguins down 3-0 are playing with house money in game 6 & 7. Lose and it is expected since they were down 3 games. Nothing to lose.

  • Injury update:
"Ilya Bryzgalov is a game-time decision for Game 5 on Friday night with a hip injury, according to WIP's Howard Eskin. In addition to the Bryz news, Eskin reports that Nicklas Grossmann will likely miss Game 5 and that James van Riemsdyk is likely to return to the lineup Friday. Eskin may not know a thing about hockey, but he has a hell of a source in the organization and is almost always right when it comes to Flyers injury news."

  • Grossman is a big loss. Bob has played exceptionally well vs Pittsburgh, last game not withstanding

Grossmann is huge. Very glad he got locked up by the Flyers for a few more years. He was the Flyers' best defenseman after the trade. Oh well, hopefully Rinaldo is sent packing for the year when JVR returns (or even if he doesn't). Wish Shanny woulda suspended him (who can count on Shanny to get anything right) for the rest of the season just so he would be gone.

  • Where has all of the scoring gone tonight?

Well, its been the most disciplined game of the series (except Malkin), so less PPs. Flyers are like 11-17 or something on the series. That is absurd and that alone will be game 4 win unless Malkin stops taking stupid penalties (he is one of the most undisciplined players in the league).

You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

  • Flyers are 11/19 on the PP. haven't scored even strength since early game 3.

Finish and get to game 6

Wow, that is a good stat. Stay out of the box Malkin (and Pens)!

  • I am a huge Flyers fan but IMHO pens will win this.

  • Wow that was an intense game. Fleury has been playing well for the last 5 periods. If he can continue to play like this, we got a possible game 7.

Pens once again took too many undisciplined penalties. We continue to do that the Flyers are bound to win one of the last 2 games.

  • When Fleury is playing like that, the Pens always have a chance. No highlight reel worthy saves but throughout the 3rd period he had great anticipation, movement/positioning, vision through the traffic, and didn't give up the juicy rebounds. The Pens have a chance.

  • Fleury is good for runs like this. They usually last 5-7 games

  • flyers choked. absolutely terrible. had chances on chances to tie and take the lead in the 3rd. let fleury off the hook and gave him confidence. now theyre in trouble. stupid briere, all he had to do was lift the puck and he couldnt do it twice

lol, come on. You'd rather be down 2 - 3 than up 3 - 2? Flyers looked good Fluery just saved the day for a change. If Danny lifts the puck like normal the game is tied. Nice to know you can just tackle people when you don't have a stick as well.

Quit being a baby. I can name four missed calls on the Flyers. Yes, Orpik got away with one. Then again, so did Lilja, Coutiere, Coburn AND Gustafsson.

  • Flyers are choking right now. They gave a talented team life and now that team believes they can win this thing.

    Dangerous IMO.

lol, calm down little girl. Not making excuses but that was pretty damn blatant. He tackled him like 3 times in front of the net. Flyers still take the series just thought it was amusing.

  • Still excuses. Coburn blatently tripping gave Philly a 6-5 instead of 5-5 with empty net.

Right now Philly absolutely has to win game 6. If this goes back to Pittsburgh (and I think it does), they will lose this series

Exactly ... that was just as bad - the missed trip on Coburn.

Glad to see MAF has entered the series.

Even the homers on Root sports said he was trying to buy the call on that "trip". The stick was at the waist not the feet. I will admit officiating has been poor on both sides but the fan bases on each side whining about calls is getting a bit absurd. It was a good game, leave it at that.

Why? They can't win in Pittsburgh? The usually do and this game was pretty close. Don't see your logic.

  • I missed the entire game due to getting some things done around the house before I leave for PSU early tomorrow morning. The things around the house took way longer than expected but it seems like I didn't miss much on the Flyers end. haha. Hopefully they can close things out on Sunday.
