  • Wow. Some really classy pens fans on the twitter universe last night. I know a few bad apples are not a whole fan base but just do a search for Wayne Simmonds. Totally uncalled for. Racism has no place in sports or society.

    I'm sure a few Flyers fans have said a few words or two about Fuhr, McKegney, Anson Carterand even Simmonds before he was acquired before too. I agree about the racism thing, but get off your high horse.

    I am sure they have. Does that make it right? I would have called them out for it to. But in todays age of social media and everything and everyone being exposed you would think some people would know better. You people never cease to amaze me.

    And yes, my high horse because i say that racism has no place.

    No, it doesn't make it right. Racism has no place. Your high horse is getting a comment in on Pittsburgh's fans about their actions and forgetting that Philly fans are more apt to do the same thing. Your comment came across like Hitler giving the President of Mexico manners lessons.

    You might not like the analogy, but the message is very clear. There is a distinct difference between the sport fan bases of the two cities.

    Why anyone thinks there's much of a difference between the two is beyond me. It's just like PSU fans making fun of OSU fans and vice versa. For the most part, we both have our idiots and we both have good fans. Both of our "internet" fans are crazier and more delusional than our fans in general. Just the way it works.

    Racism is always pathetic, and it's certainly not relegated to Pens fans, but that doesn't make it any less pathetic here. We've seen Simmonds crap from all over the NHL, just as I'm sure if the Pens had a black player and the Flyers didn't, the idiot Flyers fans on twitter would have said some racist crap. It is what it is, some people are just assholes.

    Nothing defensive about it. It's how I read his post. The sanctimonious bs that the Philadelphia fan base that put out there regarding the edgy play and now a couple of racist comments by a small sample of Penguin fans is way too much considering the history of the Flyer fan base and the actions of the organization on and off the ice for the last 40-45 years. Agree to disagree. I'm sure if Pittsburgh has a black player and Philly didn't, there would be a great portion of comments coming from Flyer fans.

    Yeah, should've worded it better as I was just talking about those 2 on the board at the time, but went on to clarify and point out the specific instances. What I was responding to in your post was the quote where you quoted me as saying as "Pens fans are ALL classy" when I did not say that. Not all Pens fans are classy and same can be said for every sporting fan team in the world.

    Not a big deal, just wanted to point this out.

    What else did they have to cheer about? And that was a love tap compared to what the Pens were doing in game 3. Doesn't matter, the series will be over now that the games are going back to Wells Fargo West.

    Most flyers guys have said the same thing as though it's fact. Not sure why everyone else is so sure. One shutdown game by Bryz (haha) or, more likely, one just mental flop by the pens will end the series. Sure, game six might be more likely to go the pens way, but not sure why so many think it's a foregone conclusion.
