OT: More problems at UGA...

There are extraordinary expectations for UGA this year, and the legal troubles for Mark Richt are AGAIN starting to pile up. A potential dismissal for Crowell would be an enormous blow to the program.

As nice of a guy as Richt seems to be, he recruits A LOT of character-flawed individuals.
I know it happens everywhere, but seemingly more at UGA than anywhere but USC.

Nope. I feel bad for Mark Richt, one of the legit good guys in the sport. But when your school demands you compete for SEC titles you can't be incredibly picky with risky carachter. You just bring em in and hope for the best.

Not to mention Crowell was the No.1 RB in the nation when UGA signed him.
I just don't see Richt leaving UGA gracefully. Either he gets fired for underachieving or he gets fired for having too many characters on the football squad (and underachieving).

It sucks to see kids piss away their future.
Happens all the time ... and those guys will always get their chance at the next level. Most of the time it doesn't work though. So they enter the 'real' world with no degree and no aspirations.
What could have been.
If winning was easy even losers would do it.

FWIW, I've heard from a few places that the interest was genuine. His wife didn't want to uproot due to considerations for their special needs child. Of all the guys involved, Richt is one guy who I don't think would've seriously pursued PSU simply for contract leverage. But, I may be wrong.

Not privy to any inside info, but I believe this scenario makes more sense than anything else out there. Richt never got a contract extension until March 2012, long after any leverage had evaporated. And, as happy as I am with OB, the idea that he was "the guy" Joyner wanted and waited for for months is absurd. I don't expect to ever get final corroboration of this, but it is the one scenario that seems to fit all the pieces together, IMO.

Bummer for Richt, I always liked him. I just don't get what that kid was thinking... Crowell always struck me as an air head.

UGA has another stud running back coming in, so I doubt they'll miss him much.
And Crowell's announcement is still one of my favorites.
