OT: Memphis to Big East (All Sports)

  • If any cares..
This huge for basketball more so than football...
If not for adding memphis I think the leauge wouldve folded, Like Rick Pitino was afraid of.....

How do you think the footbal league will be?
I say they are a little bit better than what theyve been for the last decade.. still not great though but they should get a BCS invite

    Edit: Loud Noises.

  • This should have happened awhile ago...Memphis recruits bball at a very high level and should ease the blow of Cuse and Pitt bouncing

    Saw that. Laughed. Moved on.

Big East is a joke. And adding those teams, even Boise, isn't worth the NCAA allowing them to keep their BCS auto birth

Yeah this is certainly welcomed news for the likes of Nova, St. Johns, Seton Hall, Marquette, etc...the schools with their main sport being a basketball team in the great Big East.

Too much tradition and high level competition there. I would hate if that league folded regardless of how I or anyone else may feel about some of those individual institutions

pitt an cuse havent exaclty been lighting up the scoreboards on the gridiron either.... West VA the only real loss IMO....

    they havent gotten better..
but they havent gotten worse either.. so i dont know how the NCAA can pull there automatic qualifier

and i undertsand the economics of the situation, and why Cuse and Piit left, but doesnt mean I have to like it.....

Pitt, Cuse, and WV are better than what they are bringing in.

    Boise? Ok
    Central Florida? Blah
Navy? Service academies aren't BCS caliber
    Memphis? Hahaha
    SMU? Eh
    Houston? Solid pickup

They should have had their BCS bid taken away after Miami, VaTech, and BC left. Whether they have gotten better wor worse

    Now thats a solid arguement....

I might give you PITT theyve had solid yrs and good to great NFL talent..
but take away the name, and Cuse football hasnt been as good as Boise, Houston, and UCF.. But the new coach has them a lil upswing....

and Navy might not be BCS worthy... but there at least Big east worthy, id have to check records, but i think theyve beaten most of them recently

  • Good fit for the Big East, yes. I'm not saying that the conference shouldn't have taken those guys. I'm saying with the downfall of Pitt football, the bubble popping on RU and Louisville, and the conference being used as a stepping stone for coaches (Brian Kelly, Greg Schiano soon to be Dana Holgerson) it should have its BCS bid taken. Idk when the reviews are, but they're soon. That's one of the few reasons it has yet to be done.

Big East is great basketball. Its Thursday night football.
