I see what you did there.
I personally have a handgun to protect my home. It's not practical to ban guns altogether. But is it too much to ask to ban assault rifles? There needs to be a practical limit to the firepower a common citizen can bring to bear. And concealed carry laws like the one that just passed the Michigan House and Senate allowing concealed carry in schools need to go as well.
At some point America needs to ask itself if it's OK with massacres like this one. If the answer is no, it's time to take action as a nation to prevent them from happening. Some type of gun control needs to be on the table along with school safety measures.

Sigh.
No one wants to make guns illegal, just control them. The same thing they do in Europe where gun violence is almost non-existent and democracy exists and they aren't lorded over by a totalitarian, violent dictator.
Some of you are utterly unbelievable sometimes.

YES! This is it. I believe that most folks advocating for "gun control" are talking about limiting the right to own these weapons of mass destruction. Not the common handgun or hunting rifle. Sure...wackos can still kill with knives and handguns...but the casualties would lessen. I know that this is a time to grieve, and I am NOT talking politics here...I am talking about attempting to reducing casualties. What if it were your child? My heart is very heavy at this moment, and the anger that I feel for the fact that a**holes like this killer have easy access to assault weaponry is overwhelming. Come on...we are smarter than this. Let's make it just a little more difficult for the psychos, ok?

You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

Gun violence may be non-existent, but other violence is not. There's a negative correlation between overall murder rate and gun ownership.
"...the burden of proof rests on the proponents of the more guns equal more death and fewer guns equal less death mantra, especially since they argue public policy ought to be based on that mantra. To bear that burden would at the very least require showing that a large number of nations with more guns have more death and that nations that have imposed stringent gun controls have achieved substantial reductions in criminal violence (or suicide). But those correlations are not observed when a large number of nations are compared across the world." (emphasis added)
"The political causation is that nations which have violence problems tend to adopt severe gun controls, but these do not reduce violence, which is determined by basic socio‐ cultural and economic factors." (emphasis added)

I don't know how these reporters can sleep at night after today. Some of them are seriously interviewing the children.
I know none of us want to be unemployed, but if my boss told me to go interview elementary school kids mere hours after being attacked by a gun wielding psycho, I'd tell him to go F himself and quit on the spot.
