I'm going off WRs better than Hines Ward.

Oh well that list is way longer than what you said lol

I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said.

He won't make the HOF - you're letting your fandom get in the way of reality.

There are far better WRs with far better numbers that didn't make the HOF. But he was a heckuva dirty WR

He has better numbers than Swann and Stallworth...he'll get in.

And now we're going well across eras.

This is why I hate Steeler fans. They are like OSU fans seriously.

I think it's hillarious (and a bit hypocritical) that a WR, someone who's job it is to 100% focuse on a football coming at him while defenders could be launching themselves at him from any direction, hits someone (a big bad tough LB in fact) from the front/side (i.e nowhere near the back/blind side), and because the LB was focused on someone running with the ball, the hit is considered a "cheap shot" by a bunch of pu$$ies out there.

Those who are fans of teams other than the Steelers hate Hines Ward because actually hits your defenders back.

    Wha wha wha....

    LOL

I'll agree with that assessment...should be a rule on both sides of the ball or not a rule. One that really gets me is the face mask penalty. If a defender grabs the mask it's a penalty, if the WR or RB do it when running with the ball it's okay...that's hypocritical.

    And that's not true.

Does it really matter? If so, how? I think different eras is an invalid argument. I was born in 1977, so I didn't get to experience the Steelers dynasty. But from what I have seen (mind you we only see highlights nowadays) the Steelers seemed like a pretty balanced run/pass offense...I could be wrong, but with Bradshaw and those receivers, they had to be more balanced than the era that Ward played in. Steelers didn't have a great QB since Bradshaw...Maddox was decent when they first brought him in, but that wore off...Big Ben isn't bad and is lucky he can dance his way away from defenders or he'd get sacked more (O line could give him more time to throw...would be nice). So, I think Ward has done more with less so to speak.

not arguing with you personally, but want to point something out in the college football arena. LJ Jr put up over 2000 yards when he was a Heisman finalist and how many Penn State fans were miffed about it? Putting bias aside (as a PSU fan), I still think he should have won it...to rush for that many yards is nothing short of great. Now, Cappelletti didn't have near that many and he won it...across eras? yes...but look at RBs who have won it since LJ Jr, not one over 2000 yards in a season. *If LJ cold have put up better numbers against Iowa, Michigan and Ohio State, he probably would have been a shoe-in...my personal opinion.

There are many times when the ball carrier doesn't get called...

There are plenty of times it doesn't get called period. But you said it wasn't a penalty, which is wrong.

As for across eras, are you kidding me? If Johnny Unitas or Joe Namath put those stats up now they'd be out of the HOF. Both, especially Unitas, helped change the game. Its an era of passing, limited defense, and inflated receiving yards. Obviously eras matter.

Grammatically, I typed it wrong, but you got what I meant...apologies there...long day :-)

I see your point regarding eras....times do change. But what really constitutes HOF stats since eras change? Is there actual criteria? I am asking because I really don't know.

One thing I'd like to see in football as a sport on all levels, is consistency...such as 1 or 2 feet in bounds for a reception, if you're down (in college) play is dead or should you be touched by a defender? Other sports are pretty consistent...

You will honestly see WRs having to wait longer and the stats needed become much "higher" per se due to the development of spread pro offenses and the overall structure of the NFL.
