The smoke thing at the beginning that killed Renley. That red woman just gives birth to a random smoke thing that can kill someone? IDK just seems like literally anything is fair game after seeing that.

Well yeah, dude. Magic kind of throws rules out the window. But that's the fun of fantasy shows. I'd think the show would be lacking without it...

  • I don't mind specific aspects of fantasy, take for instance the dragons. I found Stannis' shadow / demon / whatever killing Renly to be a lackluster progression. You spend a fair chunk of time developing the war between the two brothers, and end it in a split second. Really weak.

Lame lame lame lame lame. I'm guessing based on a couple things people have said, that my enjoyment of the series will dwindle as it progresses; definitely a shame.

If you enjoyed the first season and beginning of the second, you will enjoy the rest. Renly getting killed that way is a story line in the book - but it doesn't signal the beginning of the end of excitement. You just have one less king - that's all. Still plenty to fight each other.

That's part of what I like about the books. It's definately not predictable and no one is safe. Not for everyone I guess.

Don't get me wrong - I didn't have the same response regarding Ned Stark's death. That was unexpected, but it was a legitimate scenario and obviously the battle between Starks/Lannisters continues. I just think the combination of "death by spirit" and the quick change of heart by Renly's troops left a bad taste in my mind after the big build up.

Yeah my gf mentioned that. If so, they did a great job of misleading us with the epic music and the look on Theon's (sp) face

I've seen enough people die in the first season and a half to wish that's what happened, but know it's not.

He has quickly risen to the top of my "hope that guy dies" list on the show. No way those are the Stark kids... with no scene related to them dying. It's just further evidence the guy is a tool that he would kill 2 random kids and burn them beyond recognition for show.... poser's gonna get killed by his sister or something someday... or the crippled kid... even better someday down the line by the Stark girl.

I'm thinking those bodies were the two kids that Bran sent to live with that guy on the farm.

  • One random commentery...the author goes an excellent job of making well rounded carachter. The only carachter, IMO, that is TRULY honorable and didn't walk down a dark path in this entire freakin series was the one killed second. Eddard "Ned" Stark.

All of the Stark decendents qualify IMO.

Thats what my friend said last night as well. Its a good point, and would make sense. Jon Snow - what are you thinking!? Do you think Tywin is beginning to catch on about Arya? I think he knows something is up, but hasn't put it together yet. Sansa, yikes. Good luck with all that. Cersi was actually likable for the first time in her exchange with the elder Stark daughter. The whole scene at Qarth is interesting as well. Good episode.

Might as well get this going and keep it around during the season. What'd you think of the first episode ?

I really like this series. The character development is excellent, and nearly every epi has a new twist or turn. It's well worth watching.

Although like Jamie said, he did father a bastard son.

Yeah for the first time I was beginning to think Tywin was becoming suspicious of Arya. I'm interested about what happens with the Bastard son from the Dreadfort. Apparently he's quite the character.

The Tywin/Arya story as well as Dant turning into a bit of a whiny brat are starting to annoy me big time. IMO HBO is not doing a good job of portraying them. These two woman/girls are BRUTALLY strong in personality, and make some very ruthless decisions. Arya probably has more blood on her hands than any other Stark than Robb, and is the most ruthless in shedding it when it needs to be done.

Dany...does not beg, nor is she very girly. She is VERY strong, and the show doesn't always show that.

  • I'm really trying profusely to avoid this discussion. We missed it last night, and my wife made me promise that I would wait to watch with her on Wed night. She works late tonight, and I have a 3 hour window between work and the Sixers game. I can't work out for 3 hours. This is going to be a struggle.
