the playoffs are a different beast.. the flyers wont give the pens the same 2-0 leads they did all season. They'll win in 6 if bryz plays well

I will agree he is very inconsistent but in all honesty over the long run there is no other goalie I would rather have in the league than him. The regular season match-ups between these two teams will have little effect, NHL playoffs are a whole other animal. All about momentum, both individual & team momentum.

IMO whoever wins this series is winning the Stanley Cup. Easily the best two teams in the NHL right now. Malkin is the best player in the world WHEN HE WANTS TO BE.... you can just tell, whenever he wants it bad enough, he switches to a whole different gear and plays on a level no one can match up against- other times he looks lazy. I can't imagine him going anywhere but up for the playoffs though. If Fluery plays consistent enough & Malkin decides to go into crazy Russian beast mode, then I'm gonna have to say Pens in 6 or 7.

Of course it's a biased opinion but from an outside stance I really do like their chances. Philly would have to play unbelievable (which they're fully capable of doing) & the Pens would have to play pretty crappy but I'm not counting Philly out, they're always a dangerous team. But if all the Penguins' players step up & play to their full potential then we could very well see a parade coming down Fifth Ave in about 2 months. If the Flyers somehow win this series then don't be surprised to see a parade coming down Broad Street in about 2 months.

Pounding our chests? It was Philafan that was being ridiculous, saying the Flyers have owned the Pens the last 4 years, meanwhile the record was something like 12 wins for Pens, 11 for Flyers in those years. Dude is clueless about hockey.

He quoted my post and said he wouldn't be pounding his chest if he were a Flyers fan, implying that I was. Nobody in this thread has pounded their chests about the Flyers. Nobody really did about the Pens either, but they were closer, as the one person said they were the most talented team in the league. I was just talking about this thread and me being the one called out.

Either way, I agree about Phila's posts on the subject. He was the ultimate homer in his hockey discussions before.

Still can't wait for Wednesday, all this talk is just amping me up even more.

when you say get "spanked" by an 'unhealthy" Flyers team....to me it implies that you think the Flyers are the favorites and have the Pens number. I just don't see it that way at all after watching regular season games that could have gone either way...Pens blew leads in several games so its not like the Flyboys dominated the season series

I am huge Rangers fan. Have been all my life, born in NYC. I sat 12 rows up from the ice last tuesday when we clinched home ice against the flyers. Wore my Rangers jersey and lived to tell about it. So I have great disdain for both teams. With that being said, this series comes down to consistent goaltending. Both Bryz and Fleury have been very inconsistent. Whoever gets in the other guys head first wins. My prediction is Pens in 6.
