First off, we are not keeping Vick. Go look up Chip's offense at New Hampshire... it was a pass first offense that was nothing like what he had at Oregon. Vick's gone.
People have also said that Chip wants to run a 3-4... the Eagles are set up poorly to run such a defense at this time. It will be a total rebuild.

Eagles ready to sign Dennis Dixon FYI. Not bad to bring him in as a third stringer who knows the system. Also, apparently they're not cutting Vick until at least after February 6th, meaning they will be giving him 3 mil. Doesn't make sense to give him 3 mil and then cut him when they could just cut him before for free.

Our secondary is so much worse than pretty bad.
I plan on drafting enough on defense that with the offensive weapons at the skill positions and Chips genius we can win most of our games 45-42.
I do hate the Cowboys, but I was extra pissed off earlier. My 3 year old dumped out a can of my 6 month old's formula.

Dennis Dixon was the man when he played at Oregon. Too bad what happened with his knee.
I really hope y'all keep Vick, he turns the ball over and we can use all the help we can get. I think the backup, I'm drawing a blank for some reason, the guy from Arizona with the long hair, is overrated and isn't enough to get the job done.
I think he'll run the ball quite a bit with Shady, because he's y'all's best player. The best coaches play to their teams strengths. Y'all will score, but I don't think y'all have enough on defense to win many games at all.

Once again you can forget about Vick being on the Eagles, much less being our starting quarterback, because it's not happening. Also, I don't see how the Eagles backup quarterback, Nick Foles, could possibly be overrated when no one ever said he was even that good. Nevertheless he certainly isn't the worst quarterback in the league, as you previously said. Sanchez, Cassel, and Gabbert, are all worse, just to name a few. And Foles was a rookie last year.

By saying 33rd, I was implying he's the best backup in the league, but don't believe he's going to be a good starter.
And apparently things aren't so concrete if you read shavi's post. Haven't released him yet, and the clock is ticking until y'all owe him another 3 million.
Files was a rookie last year, but I still don't think he's that good. And I heard a lot of people around state college say Foles is the future at QB. I don't think he's anything more than adequate personally.

I'd take Foles over Romo going forward. Better arm, not a douche, and actually showed up in crunch time(granted it was after the 7th or 8th team loss in a row). The only thing he does consistently better than Foles is improvise. Don't forget most of the time that Foles was the starter he didn't have DJax and McCoy, arguably the two most dynamic offensive players on the roster. Also he was playing with 1/5 of the starting OLine. Romo has had some pretty good weapons, for his whole career, and has never done anything.

Romo is a decent QB, and would be a starter for most teams in the league, so I disagree with you there. Foles has some nice tools, but most QBs in the league do. I don't see what sets him apart other than a strong arm. JMO.
He also hasn't played in a high-pressure situation yet, at least to the extent Romo has. Big difference in playing for a team that's 3-8 and a team that's 6-5 and has a chance to make the playoffs if they win the last two games of the season- wins that rely entirely on whether or not you play well.
He's throw for a lot of yards actually, and put up some great numbers. The team is extremely flawed though, so he doesn't have as many wins as other QBs. To say he hasn't done anything with the weapons around him is false though. He's never had a good OL, or an average one IMO. He's been the offense in his time in Dallas. Whether we succeed or not is entirely on him, which isn't the case in a lot of places.

So earlier winning the Superbowl was the be all end all, but when coming to Romo choking/failing/not doing shit we overlook the playoffs and Superbowl? I also forgot Romo wasn't good enough to play as a rookie. Romos third year in the league, his first as a starter, saw him lose 4/5 down the stretch including the bobbled snap fiasco. He really shined by backing his way into the playoffs and costing them a playoff win.
To give the devil some due imo Romo was a top ten qb a few years ago, but like I said I'd take Foles going forward.

The Cowboy's problem is that they have a QB who chokes and because of it they are merely mediocre. Being mediocre is the worst thing you can be in sports. It gives false hope that things will get better and just leads to insignificant seasons. As I said earlier, if I were Tex, I would be calling for that bum to get kicked to the curb.

And this is why other franchises are stuck in mediocrity. They pull the trigger over and over and over again, leaving no organizational stability to help foster growth or development.
Firing Wade Phillips= good move. Cutting Tony Romo and replacing him with Ryan Nassib or Geno Smith= bad move. There are other, more pressing needs that can be addressed more effectively in the near future than replacing Romo. I'd try to fix those first, then once a suitable replacement comes along, pick him up.

Agree with Phila. You give guys a chance to do it, but if it doesn't happen after a few seasons, you look somewhere else. Romo is going to be 33 this year and hasn't even come close to showing that he can lead the Cowboys to the Super Bowl. He's got more weapons than most QBs yet he still cannot get it done. I love ragging on Jerry Jones, but you look at this team and you see that it's not bad in terms of personnel. The problem is the choker. And being complacent with him at QB means that I will never have to worry about the Cowboys doing anything significant while he is around.

This team is horrible in key spots, OL and DBs. It's very difficult for any team to utilize those "weapons," and to be honest the only real weapons he has are Dez and Witten- Austin sucks- when he's running for his life all the time. It wouldn't have mattered if we had anybody other than Peyton or Brady, because whoever else is back there would be on their ass half the time.
Lets review. Problem areas= OL and DBs. What should the Cowboys do to start winning according to Phila and Jive? Fire the QB.

IMO OL has been our problem for a few years. We have one quality OL, and it was a second year OT who played LT for the first time. We still need four more.
Problem #1 is that our defense can't stop anybody unless we get 5 or 6 sacks, because our pass coverage is abysmal outside of Mo Claiborne. If we don't score 28 points or more, we lose the game. How are we supposed to score 28 points? With an imbalanced offense that throws the ball 40 times a game because our RB, while talented, is fragile and not an every down type player. We basically go into the game and ask Romo to carry the team by himself, and when he doesn't, instead of blaming the system or the structure of the team that relies so heavily on one guy, we call that one guy a "choker" because he isn't superman.
Problem #1 is the guy in the owners box, then problems #2 and #3 are OL and DBs, respectively. Romo isn't good, but he's the best we'll have because the kids getting drafted outside the top 5 as QBs are typically crap, and we can use that pick, or those picks, on more pressing needs.

You are a Cowboys fan... how many times have you seen Romo throw a pick late in a meaningful game to lose it? It happens all the time.
It doesn't matter if he is the "best they have". Go out and get someone to actually compete with him. Who did the Cowboys ever get to compete for the starting QB position? I can't think of one guy who could push Romo. He's been the starter for like... what... like 6 years now?

We're comparing two QBs, not two organizations. Two very different beings that must be compared by very different measures.
Agree to disagree. I don't think of Romo as anything better than an above average starting QB, but I don't hold Foles in as high regard as you and other Eagles fans do.
We'll see though. If the Birds do in fact cut Vick, then he will get his chance to shine.

Last I checked most QBs were judged by how they performed in the playoffs. Like it or not, right or wrong, it's the way it is.
I don't see how you can whine that Romo's OL is so bad while dismissing Foles, who played behind a line with 4 backups, and not even good back ups. And also was missing a top 3 NFL rb, and maybe the best deep threat in the league, but you know enough about him to think he won't even be an above average starting QB.... sounds fishy to me.

It's a personal opinion. I'm no expert on professional football, much less the Philadelphia Eagles. I watched Foles sparingly, but from what I saw I wasn't all that impressed.
Once again, those that blame Romo for the Cowboys being utter crap the past decade or so need to look at what is causing him to be in that position. It's not as simple as replace Romo and you have a championship contending team, you have so many other variables to fix first.
Is Romo the guy to take us to the top, more than likely no. However, at this point, with this team, even if we did magically replace Romo with "the guy," we still wouldn't be a successful team. We have too many holes to fill, too many issues to fix right now. IMO we should try and fix those first before trying to find "the guy" at QB, who IMO isn't out there right now.
