  • Don't know too much about McCome... I like that Lubrano and Taliaferro are on it though!

  • Good.

  • Great a loud mouth that purchases friendship, a democrat (working for Duane Morris) and a guy I've never heard of. What's McCome's story?

  • Lubrano is going to be an utter pain in the ass. In a bad way. I know he was a popular choice, but he is way, way too focused on everything Paterno related. We have important business to conduct that goes beyond what he wants to do.

Just wait until he starts talking to the media. People will wish they had their votes back.

He's going to stir up a lot of trouble/drama. Get your popcorn ready.

Not certain how you KNOW how he is going to interact once on the BoT.

I have to believe that anyone who has been as successful as he has been in a relatively short time knows how to act in this arena. Note that there are a number of big-time execs on the board and he will not be intimidated, IMHO.

  • Anthony and Adam were pretty much shoe ins. I voted for Adam T., Ben Novack, and Sam Zamrik. Would've liked to see one of the two of Novack or Zamrik get in. I never heard of the McCome guy.

  • Im just glad that Lubrano has some balls and wont take the BOTs sh*t. I think Lubrano being on the board is the worst case scenario for the BOT in regards to the election. I have no problem with Lubrano being on the board until he does something stupid (which I hope he does not do).

I second that. I fear Lubrano will be a total embarrassment to the school.

As far as Taliaferro goes, I don't expect his actions to embarrass PSU but his mere election does. Based solely on his credentials, Adam should have finished way back in the pack. His election was a sentimental one and quite frankly is an embarrassment.

  • Quite frankly, I hope he's a pain in the ass to the BoT's. There needs to be an end to the "yes man" members. Get somebody who thinks for themselves and isn't scared to ruffle a few feathers. To date, he's done/said nothing publicly that bothers me.

And this is based on what? What exactly does the BOT do? And what are the qualifications that he lacks? The BOT is just like any governing body. And the members are like any elected officials. An intelligent person with integrity should be able to contribute and succeed. Unfortunately, those are rarely the people who are chosen. There is nothing Adam can do that will embarrass the University more than the current BOT's actions since Joe was fired.

  • We need people in there who will question whatever is put before them and note vote like sheep. I personally am glad these three got in. Now, on to the Governor. Lets get him and his 10 appointees out.

He can if him and Lubrano spend all their time trying to just get apologies for Joe and renaming the stadium and other things.

Adam is way over his head here - and is way under-qualified for this position. Lubrano is a loudmouth and will cause nothing but trouble and embarrass himself within the next 90 days.

It was idiotic to vote this guy in as a trustee solely because he's a devout supporter of Joe Paterno. It's incredibly short-sighted and stupid. Adam was voted in due to name recognition and that's it. I care about PENN STATE UNIVERSITY - not Paterno State University. I find it incredibly short sighted that we not only had one-issue voters but the issue everyone cares so deeply about is Joe.

People like this are the same reason that idiot Obama got elected.

Yeah...the folks that were on the BOT already certainly haven't been an embarrassment either...

Again, what are the qualifications he lacks? The BOT is a large group of individuals of various backgrounds. The more diverse the backgrounds of its members, the better, as far as I'm concerned. If they were responsible for MAKING the budget proposals every year, I'd be concerned but if a freaking orthopedic surgeon can be considered qualified, then Adam is not "over his head" and I say that with two of my best friends being orthopods.

Again, is it an age issue? Every one of the current BOT members were in over their heads with the scandal. That includes CEOs of major corporations and other high powered big wigs. So what exactly makes someone qualified if all of those morons failed?

  • The current BOT has been the most embarrassing, utterly despicable group of men and women in power that this University has had to endure in its history.
A prestigious position in a big corporation with lots of connections is not what makes a good board member.
Quite frankly I don't give a damn if the candidate is the CEO of a fortune 500 company or a shift manager at the freaking Corner Room. What we need is smart, HONEST people who aren't gonna just fall in line with the good ole boys lunch club and actually care about things being done the right way, finding the truth, and not spending $10million on a "PR firm" in order to spread their lies to try and save face once they screwed up.
I didn't vote- I'm only a student. But this "qualifications" talk is BS. I'll take a small time attorney who is interested in getting things done the right way than Mr big shot at a pharmaceutical company who takes the easy way of falling in line with the good ole boys club and goes along with scapegoating one of the greatest men in our university's history in order to take the heat off of his own failures, and wasn't willing to stand up to a corrupt POS governor.

There is more to PSU than the scandal. I get it, you're mad that your idol was fired. You're mad that your idol was drug through the mud and the Board gave in to public pressure and wasn't prepared for it.

Guess what? There are far bigger issues for the University in the past and going forward. There are things like appropriations - trying to find ways to keep college affordable - finding ways to keep programs financially sound and ways to continue to build the college. Far more important things than saying sorry to a coach or naming a street after him or naming a stadium after him.

It's PENN STATE not Paterno State

I couldn't care less if the BOT ever muttered the name "Paterno" again. But it's funny you bring up keeping programs financially sound, and keeping PSU affordable when this group of BOT members have spent $10 million now on a "PR" firm in order to (again) try and convey their "message." All these big shot CEOs and connected big names in their respective industry have done an absolutely horrific job. You can write a textbook on what NOT to do as a board member based off of ther actions.
So forgive others if they're deciding to take a different approach to voting this time around and are willing to vote in candidates who aren't in the same mold as those of the current board.
