  • No new members. I think its a sham that Biggio didn't get in. That dude was a great ball player.

3000 hits should be a first ballot HOFer

  • Agreed on Biggio. Ashamed that the actions of others, costed him being a 1st ballot HOFer.

Biggio was closest with 68.22% (75%) needed to get in.

BBWAA members tend to undervote 1st-time eligibles. Afterall they are writers, not athletes. Bunch of wannabes if you ask me. But I agree, Schilling and Biggio should have got in. Wait til next year.

As for the Doper Three (Bonds, Clemens & Sosa), I couldn't care less if the never get into the Hall. Pete Rose deserves to get in ahead of any Doper. IMO

  • BTW, this is the first time since 1996 that no player was selected to the Hall.

  • Biggio grew up one town over from me on Long Island, graduating a couple years before me. If we hadn't moved when I was younger, my brother would have played football with him. He was known more for football (or at least I followed it more). He's the only kid whose name I remembered even before he made the majors, because he, like Zwinak, didn't start the first few games of the season but ended up leading the county in rushing and won the outstanding player award. I never knew he played baseball til he signed with Houston.

Pete Rose is one of the greatest of all time and should be in the HOF. Hands down. I understand people don't like that he bet on baseball, but he bet on his team to WIN. It would be much, much different had he bet against his team or was throwing games due to betting.

As for this year, Biggio deserves to be in and I think Schilling should be as well although he's not the shoe-in that Biggio should be.

Yeah, too bad the Hall of Fame is based on a career, not 1/4th or 1/2th a career.

Completely agree Rose should be in the HOF though.

I was saying that half of his career was hall worthy, if he had retired then, so the full career is HOF worthy too.

No way Schilling gets in before Jack Morris.

I think Jack Morris has only one more year of eligibility left. Schilling is a 1st-year ballot this year.

Agreed, and Clemens was even moreso from his Boston days alone. I've spent the past hour calming down Mets fans here at work who are furious about Piazza not getting in. I'm enjoying that myself.

The difference for me (Yankee fan) is that you can tell when Bonds started Juicing and his stats before then were HOF worthy. We don't know when Clemmons started juicing making his bid much more difficult imo.
