The media will sensationalize the hell out of it and probably try to relate it to the passing asteroid, even though the two events are not connected.
Actually, the stories that I have been reading are doing the opposite. They are clearly differentiating it from the passing asteroid. Wouldn't it be nice to see some "unsensationalized" journalism for a change? One can only hope.
I sure wish i could go meteor hunting over there... something i've wanted ever since i was a kid. Every time we get to DC I *have* to go to the Smithsonian just to check the exhibit and touch one of the samples they have out. Just never grew up I guess.

It would not surprise me if this were a small piece of the larger rock that is passing earth. Still, nothing to worry about... the earth's atmosphere too care of it.
