OSU vs PSU thread...CIVIL VERSION

What do you mean, we'll see? MSU's offense sucks. That's why you shut tem down; because they are just horrible.

If you're comparing our offense to MSU's offense... I don't know what to say. They are completely different.

    1) Isn't your offense considered pro-style?

    2) your offense was only ranked #75 vs. MSU at #80.

    1) There's a few different style of "pro styles", just like there are different versions of the spread. After seeing some of the offenses you have put out and faced (varying styles) over the last few years, I am sure you can understand.

    2) I think a lit has to do with current trends, and how the team has begun to gel in the system and with eachother of the last few weeks. Saying they are on a roll is an understatement, and are really beginning to put points and yards up on the board. I addressed this earlier in a direct response to a post you have decided to ignore.

How many points did MSU put up against Iowa 2 weeks ago at home?

I think you are looking at 6 weeks ago, not present day. Stats don't paint the accurate picture, but hold on to them if you want to.

I love stats, but all stats have holes and weaknesses. Especially in a game like football, rather than one like baseball for example.

    That said:

    Offense
Ohio State: 438.63 yards per game, 6.30 yards per play, 43 TDs, 39.00 points per game
Penn State: 406.43 yards per game, 5.14 yards per play, 27 TDs, 28.57 points per game

    Defense
Ohio State: 393.38 yards per game, 5.44 yards per play, 23 TDs allowed, 24.25 points per game allowed
Penn State: 322.71 yards per game, 4.76 yards per play, 14 TDs allowed, 15.71 points per game allowed

  • I think the Keys to the Game are rather simple.
    OSU- Braxton Miller
    - Big Play on Special Teams
-Keeping PSU on third and longs if we get on your side of the field. Our kicker is 4-11. Long of like 37
    PSU-Stopping Braxton Miller
-Offense play the same as we did against Iowa.
-Force OSU to win the game on Miller's arm.
Both Teams- I really believe this game will come down to turnovers and winning the battle of field position.

To re-iterate an earlier post. In Big 10 play, we are averaging 5 yards less per game than OSU (445 vs 450) on offense.

We are giving up 145 less yards (247 vs 392).

Interestingly, OSU's defense was just as bad against it's OOC opponents as it is against conference foes-giving up exactly the same number of yards. Ours has gotten a LOT better, just like the offense.

  • I just love my PSU friends, when a OSU person post negative things about our team they thank him for there candor, when they post how we are better you call them delusional, the arrogance of my PSU friends is never surprising, you act as though we should be thankful that we are allowed to play on your field, as if we should pay for the lessons you are about to teach us how to play the game of football. I think this game is rather simple, it will come down to OSU protecting the ball, if we cant get on the plus side of that we lose to PSU, yes our defense has played bad, horrible even, but if you look at our games how many teams win with the amount of turnovers we have had? Stats are great but all that really matters is the scoreboard, and on that end we are PERFECT! That's all that really matters. I will say for all the arrogance most of your posters have, I do love the fact that PSU and OSU have a chance to dominate the Big 10 this year, you know they have to hate that!

  • To me, it says a lot about a person's intelligence when they go to another team's board and complain about how optimistic statements are generally accepted about that team...while homer statements about other teams are called out.

    Seriously? Fools.

  • I have nothing but respect for the product OSU puts on the field. They will be favored going into this game, and should be based on on-field play this year. It should be a good game, and its a shame that this is set up to be the best game in the B1G all year, including the watered down championship game, and neither of these teams will be able to represent our conference in Pasadena.

This is going to be fun guys. These are the games you are a college football fan for.

Aren't you the guy that said a team's weakness can't be exposed if they win?

And how dare other people have an opinion that varies from yours thinking there team maybe able to compete maybe even win, I know that's hard to believe!

Stop it jmc, he has trouble putting together coherent thoughts. Let him go and lets just talk about the game, too good of a game coming up to worry about a couple of OSU internet fans. Even the guy earlier was fun to talk with, just talk to them. I'm done ruining a good week that hasn't begun.

I'm the guy who says all that matters is you win! No matter how pretty no matter how ugly, look up 2002, what was the Buckeye weakness? They won every game, what was it, what did you learn? See all that matters is wins and loses, it not how you do it or where you suck

Yes. And they should be. 8-0 is 8-0. BOB, while proving it to us, hasn't proven enough to the odds makers to be favored over Meyer. They also have showed some good resolve in winning games where they lose players and don't play their best, that's a sign of a good team. They also have one of the very home run threats in the nation in Braxton Miller.

So I basically said the samething about PSU and OSU and you said I'm on drugs? I think it's great that both teams are having great seasons, knowing that it is pissing the Big 10 off, also showing how bad the conference is, what an impressive game Michigan had at home against MSU, this is the Big 10 hope that they will represent the Big 10 in a BCS bowl, we have already seen that result!

Really? This coming from an OSU fan? I've seen plenty of the comments from OSU fans on PSU made yesterday.

You're talking to someone who has thought all along that OSU would win, and still think OSU will end up winning. So in what other ways would you like to display your acute ignorance?

It was your inability to put a thought out in an intelligent manner that had me say that. You also had a lot of extras in there that the comment I made covered.
