  • Check out the link below for the summary.

NCAA serves Ohio State with notice of allegations - NCAA Football - SI.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- The NCAA is accusing Ohio State coach Jim Tressel of lying to hide violations by players who traded memorabilia for cash and tattoos.

  • The fact he was reaching out to the lawyers and TP's ATM machine is enough for me to pretty much write Tressel off as one of the biggest FRAUDS to ever be on the sideline of a college football game. I really hope he gets slammed as well as the school.

  • I'm still taking the "I'll believe it when I see it" stance in regards to the NCAA actually nutting up and dropping the hammer on OSU.

I have never thought the NCAA would act, but they showed the last 2 years that a big boy can get slapped. Him lying to them and the school is going to result in more than 5 games for himself. In fact the only reason I think he would keep his job is if the AD and president knew earlier and he isn't spilling the beans on them. No way any other AD or president allows the guy to lie to them and the NCAA and keep his job. He should have been fired on the spot if you think about it.

  • Good article from Mandel. He seems to thinl Tressel is done.

Jim Tressel's Ohio State tenure all but over after NCAA allegations - Stewart Mandel - SI.com

What has been whispered for nearly two months took a significant step toward becoming reality Monday: Jim Tressel's tenure at Ohio State is numbered. It may even be over before the end of the calendar year.

  • I agree he should be fired and they should take all their wins away from them for last year, and they should be put on probation.

I agree, but at the same time, it isn't pretty for the conference as a whole and the football team that has won or shared the conference championship for seemingly the least decade.

Ahhh who cares at this point? Nobody has respected the Big Ten for years. To watch those people go down in flames is awesome.

  • "The Columbus Dispatch reported Monday that Tressel went on to exchange at least 12 emails with Cicero, and also had numerous lengthy telephone conversations with Sarniak over the weeks and months ahead. Tressel still did not tell any of his superiors, anyone at the NCAA or his own compliance or legal departments.

In September of 2010, Tressel even signed a mandatory and rather routine Ohio State compliance form which clearly and simply asks if he the coach has knowledge of any NCAA violations. By signing and dating it, he said that he did not."

How does anyone not get fired over this. Shady ex lawyer and the kids ATM machine get called, but not the kids parents, AD, or compliance office. Just his ATM machine...why is he begging for money was JT's question. JT knows wich ATM machine to go to for each kid I guess. Sarniak was TP's and JT was probably pissed about the poor kid having to beg or trade in gear for cash.

  • MD - good joke.
And I agree with Dancing Banana level of happiness.
It might not "look good for the conference" but everyone has always known tO$U are scumbags... Glad to not be pissin in the wind about it anymore... Got some legit substance to back this up.
Hope it makes a bigger impact on recruiting than the sanctions had at USC. WTF HS Seniors?... Carrol busted for his nonsense, THEN they get Kiffin as his replacment and people STILL want to go there?!

USC hasn't felt the full effect yet because they are appealing the decision, which delays the loss of scholarships. At least that is the story I heard.

I agree, at this point the isn't much respect for the big ten anyway, so I'm fully enjoying watching tressel and the buckeyes go down in flames.

Wouldn't you rather beat them on the field instead of having the NCAA take them down for us? I hate OSU as much as the next guy but I get much more enjoyment out of beating their ass ON the field.

No. I'd rather everyone played by the rules. The rest should take care of itself then.

Do you actually believe that PSU hasn't used Ineligible players in a game? We have players who have received/taken money and/or gifts among other things. EVERY program, including PSU, has crossed the line. The question that needs asked is how far across the line is too far and who decides that?

Tressel isn't going anywhere UNLESS new allegations are found and proven. OSU as known about everything the NCAA issued them and they still haven't fired Tressel. The Pres. Gordon Gee made a very telling Joke back in March. He quipped:

"I'm just hoping that the coach doesn't dismiss me,"

That joke was very telling IMO. And if they haven't fired him yet, they aren't going to (barring NEW info.

I live in Dayton and I'm in Cbus alot. The man is loved. He has built up a LOT of good will among boosters and alumni and important people. He beats Michigan every year, pretty much wins the Big 10 title every year and is pretty much in a BCS bowl game every year. He is LOVED in Ohio. More Ohioans would be upset if they fired him. Again, The only way he is gone is if new allegations surface by the national media digging and refusing to let this die. If nothing new is found, Tressel stays.
