He is def not my first choice, but I will support the new coach and be there in the Fall. Just about all HC start out as assistants and we could do worse than the offensive coordinator of one of the most successful NFL teams. He could be calling plays in the Super Bowl and then heading on down to Happy Valley...that should entice some high school players. I'm sure Joyner did his homework on this guy and the interview must have been great. Let's see what the staff looks like and how he handles the recruiting period before we bash anyone.

My initial reaction is that this was orchestrated by the BOT. They ultimately wanted to seize power of the program. They took the steps to force Joe out the door. They chose one of their own members to select the new HC. And I believe that they purposefully identified someone who they could control. I really wanted to believe that our leadership would somehow prove its competence after months of missing the mark, but that proved to be misplaced optimism. Hugely saddened and disappointed by the direction that I believe our program is going to move in the future...not just the Bill O'Brien tenure.

I'm with you 100% on this Diddy. Looks like Joyner turned out to be a puppet of the BOT. Disgusting. The BOT.....looking a gift horse (football program that brings money, prestige, etc. to the university) in the mouth. I had planned on running for the BOT. You might think this would invigorate me more but in reality I'm totally deflated and turned off to PSU right now.

I am just glad all the drama is over. Glad we have a head coach, looking forward to seeing how he fills out his staff. Really wanted a clean sweep of program (especially after last couple games, fights, etc). Will pull for scrap wherever he goes, and I will continue to bleed blue and white and I will give O'brien a chance to prove everyone wrong.

They give Joepa a note to call them so they can tell him he is fired. Now they let these athletes who are very concerned about their future hear about it from espn instead of letting them know first. Joyner and the rest of the BOT are pure trash. There is no way this school can recover as long as they are in charge.
...Also Bill O'Brien is going to keep coaching for the Patriots until after the superbowl. So forget about a recruiting class this year.

The fact that he will be recruiting over the phone is what infuriates me. How on earth can you hire a guy that is not gonna get started right away.

Will support the new PSU coach. First tests are: staff hires (hoping that the defensive staff says), identifying the Recruiting coordinator, keeping the current recruits, and getting some new ones.

Blackledge definitely not happy. Why would he be though, he had an AD who shut out lettermen from this search. Good job Joyner.

I for one am totally unhappy. We apparently could not hire anyone at all and all the Plan F guys were right. We got a lump a steaming crap that will be flushed in 4 years of unparalleled futility.
Zero HC experience, zero to show for success, other than being associated with Brady...I could coach him and be considered a guru....
The entire BOT and search committee need to pay me back all my donation money!!!
