  • Adversity... I could be wrong but I believe that was an old, old wooden ship used during the Civil War era.

  • This recruiting class is the biggest step in recovering from the sanctions. If BOB can pull in this class with minimal damage, he can then sell the 2014 class on coming in, redshirting, and then playing their soph, junior and senior years in bowl games.

Barring a mass exodus from the current players, i'm expecting at least decent play on the field this season and next season. And that should be enough to keep them afloat.

Keeping the current players on the roster, and this 2013 recruiting class, is going to be the key for BOB.

I don't think most of the recruits will be able to redshirt. We are gonna need all the bodies we can get

  • Sounds like you guys found the right man.....Obviously can recruit which is going to be tough now, but you seen what he capable of....and he stays positive...I believe when all the punishments are over O'Brien will definitely get some great bowl wins and have PSU competing for the championship. He seems like a high Character man and he gets life.

  • Is it too early to give BOB a contract extension? I want this guy around for more than 5 years.

  • BOB seems like a good man and a good coach. I also hope he sticks through the hard times, I think he will do very well once the playing field is level again. The only concern with what's been said is that the NFL has smaller rosters with far more practice & development time. They also start with a skilled, physically developed group of players. Having a smaller roster of college players still needing a huge amount of skill development in much less practice time than the NFL has will be a daunting task. That is what tripped up Charlie Weiss when he came into ND after being the OC with the Patriots. Schematically he was brilliant, he just didn't anticipate how much time he would need to spend on player development vs. scheme.

I agree. I think he deserves it already and will automatically get a legit 4 year grace period until we can at least compete in bowls again.
