  • We all are...but lets give this guy a chance. I am excited secretly to see what happens with our offense....boy oh boy it was rough to watch it this last season with the finale in the Ticket City Bowl.

It is important to band together not leave now more than ever.

  • That press release is the first well-done output from PSU administration since crap hit the fan a couple months ago. Well written. Doesn't mean I like the hire though and Joyner is certainly not high on my list of Penn Staters.

  • I've come around on it and am looking forward to a new era. But saying he can't wait to get started. Really? How about not waiting potentially another month to get started then!?!

I would prefer to have him in the playoffs on national TV with the Pat's offense lighting every team they play up and the commentators talking about how he will be moving on to PSU in a few short weeks.

  • Do you think Belichick will let him be decked out in Penn State gear on the sidelines? :)

  • i do not love this hire. I have come to grips with it. i have nothing against o brien my dissatisfaction lies elsewhere. Its a great quote.

Im still having a hard time believing he doesnt bolt for the first nfl gig. He is so excited to get started it may take him a month. Once again nothing against him but I cant believe we would allow this

  • Unfortunately I believe he scraps the entire staff (probably told to do so) ... has no clue about PSU tradition and how to win here. Becomes our DickBOB ... 3/4 years is fired because his fancy new passing game with no running game and porous D does not float here. Hopefully then a Golden can come in to bring us back around.

I believe this is what is going to happen ... ideally he leaves in 3/4 years because he was successful and we get Golden, but highly doubt it.

You think that whole future fantasy up, and you make Golden our future coach? Damn.

Wild Bill O'Brien: Good luck buddy. There are some things I like about him as a coach, but overall I am not thrilled. Prove me wrong boss.

  • Has anyone ever heard him speak? He might be the freaking pied piper and make everyone love him immediately. I doubt he had anything to do with the Patriots' success but if he learned enough to pass on a fraction of Brady's wisdom to our QB's and hires some good recruiters and defensive coaches, we could be competitive sooner than later.

  • The problem is that there was so much hype leading up to this hire that everyone's expectations were Friday high. I was disappointed at first (especially after hearing names like Gruden, Petersen, Miles and Saban as the bottom of the 9th grand slam), but like a lot of people have already said, our offense has been in shambles for years besides a few bright leaders (MR, DC) in between. If the scandal didn't happen JoePa, Galen Hall and JayPa would have taken the football program down in flames.

The reality is that this head coach will bring back offense to the program and as a result, will most likely be able to sway some weapons on the recruiting trail that wouldn't have given Penn State a second look otherwise. It will be fun to watch this progress over the next month before national letter of intent day.

Welcome to the program Coach O'brien. I hope you throw the old playbook in the trash, piss on it, start a fire from the half lit cigars Joyner was smoking the other day and make positive changes to bring Penn State football into the 21st century.

Yes, Belichick is such a great coach that everyone else on the coaching staff plays Madden every day while he coaches all positions, scouts the opponents, reviews all game and practice film, implements the game plans, conducts all meetings, does the laundry, and tapes up the players. I'm sure the offensive coordinator has had nothing to do with their ongoing offensive success. Just like Phil Jackson did nothing to earn those 11 NBA Championships as a head coach, he just happened to have great players. Great players don't need coaches, and Bill Belichiick doesn't need assistants, so Tom Brady doesn't need Bill either or either Bill?

Why do so many people have an issue giving this guy props for his time with New England? It's not like he comes off as an arrogant bastard like Charlie did.
