Three different national coaching, uh, award-givers have named Bill O'Brien a finalist for their awards, including the Maxwell Club. O'Brien joins Notre Dame's Brian Kelly and Kansas State's Bill Snyder as finalists for that award.
O'Brien has also been named a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year by the FWAA and the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year.
If there are any others, I'll add them here.

How many COY awards are there? 3?
No, there are a bunch. I recall with the 2005 team that Joe won some unprecedented number of COY awards that year. I want to say he won 7 or 8 in 2005.
From Joe's Wiki Page:
Awards and honors:
Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year – 1986
Amos Alonzo Stagg Coaching Award (United States Sports Academy (USSA)) – 1989, 2001
Amos Alonzo Stagg Award (AFCA) – 2002
AFCA Coach of the Year – 1968, 1978, 1982, 1986, 2005
Associated Press College Football Coach of the Year Award – 2005
Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award – 1981, 2005
Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year – 1978, 1982, 1986
George Munger Award (Div. I Coach of the Year) – 1990, 1994, 2005
Paul "Bear" Bryant Award – 1986
Sporting News College Football Coach of the Year – 2005
The Home Depot Coach of the Year Award – 2005
Walter Camp Coach of the Year Award – 1972, 1994, 2005
Dave McClain Big Ten Conference Coach of the Year – 1994, 2005, 2008
Did i read that list right with 8 COY honors in 05 there? Impressive
Suck It Emmert!! and "Sorry for not being sorry for being a Penn Stater" - Philafan
That's right.... IIRC, it was the most ever by one coach in one year. 2005 was a heck-of-a year given preseason expectations and the prior 6 years' performance. 2012 was equally impressive for albeit different reasons.
