Nyeem Wartman ran a 10.9 100M Dash

  • To put that in perspective, here's the PIAA Championships last year.

    1 Smith, Tyler 11 Norristown 01 10.98 10.65 0.6
    2 Kenney, Alex 12 State College 06 10.93 10.74 0.6
    3 Williams, Andre 12 Parkland 11 10.95 10.76 0.6
    4 Ross, Myron 12 Wissahickon 01 11.06 10.76 0.6
    5 Ifill, Brandon 12 Penn Hills 07 11.12 10.79 0.6
    6 Charles, Colton 12 Cntrl Dauphin 03 11.12 10.84 0.6
    7 Blinn, PJ 12 Seneca Valley 07 11.07 10.85 0.6
    8 Gillespie, Ronnie 10 Upper Perkmn 01 11.10 10.93 0.6

The first number is the semis, the last number the finals. Brandon Ifil was a 3* corner who ended up at Pitt. Wartman weighs around 220, and 6-3...I looked up the national numbers for last year...

He would have been the 242nd fastest kid in the country.

Oh and he's not done yet, usually in T&F they'll try to get you to your peak by late spring, in time for districts and states.

This kid is SMOKING fast for his position, an dmight be among the very fastest backers in America. Holy crap.

    EDIT

guess you're going to have to copy and paste...

  • He wouldn't have even made the state top 7. He's a bum, take away his offer immediately! flex

  • Definitely a VERY impressive time given his size.

  • That's a heck of a time for a guy his size, but keep in mind it was hand-timed and the ones you mentioned are electronic. Will be interesting to see what he does in districts and states.

No doubt hand hald times for track are notoriously unreliable, but the half second difference between Nyeem and the next fastest kid is impressive nonetheless. If he can hit 11 flat with electronic timing count me as a true believer. 6'2-3" and roughly 210-220 lbs is pretty remarkable for a teenager.

Yep, I'll definitely be looking forward to those times. Sometimes you get even better times simply because of having a better track.

T&F times are generally more reliable than 40 times, if only because they'll have multiple officials doing the timing. But you're right, they're not the most accurate things in the world.

One thing about his competition though, is that my area (District II) doesn't produce a lot of fast kids.

  • I'm still trying to think of other LBs who were sprinters in track, but none come to mind.

As another benchmark, I'm pretty sure Curtis Dukes ran a 10.8

  • He is number one on my list for LB. Reminds me of Navarro. Kid is a player.

I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said.

  • A 10.9 at his size = don't stand in front of him. Even if he's not a legit 10.9, human error likely wouldn't account for more than 3/10 of a second... So even an 11.2 at that size is very impressive... Serious wheels hand timed or not.

I checked this thread specifically to see if you saw it ... you have a man crush haha.

Great find Appoo, thanks for sharing.

If winning was easy even losers would do it.

For comparison sake think of Kyshoen Jarratt's 11.3 times from his outdoor season last year. Obviously different track, weather conditions, and timers but the point is he has some wheels for a big kid. Now the other question is does Nyeem have the reaction times to match his 10.9 speed? If so we have a winner!

I actuallly looked for this when I came across Nyeem's time, but couldn't find it...but LaVar was stupid fast. Like 10.6 electronically timed fast. If they handed out 6 stars to really special prospects for the last 15 years, then 3 guys would have gotten them IMO. Clowney from last year, Adrian Peterson, and LaVar Arrington.

    I absolutely love Adrian Peterson.

As I've said a few times before, I grew up a huge OU fan, and I got to meet Adrian a few times personally. Honestly he could not have been a nicer person. After the championship game against Florida, he must have signed autographs and taken pictures for an hour, it was like he couldn't tell any of his fans no. He also started a Boomer Sooner chant after the game, it was an experience I will personally never forget.

Also, possibly one of the greatest physical specimens to ever play college football. The great size, unbelievable speed, outstanding vision, and the love of contact. If he would have been able to avoid that high ankle sprain, which nagged him a lot longer than most people knew, I'm convinced he would've won the Heisman. JMO.

He should have won it anyway. Anyone with working eyes could have told you he was a better football player than Tebow. As physical of a freak Trent Richardson is, he doesn't have the athletic package that AD had.

  • To reinforce what Sean said about hh times Curtis Dukes 2 best FAT times are 11.24 NWI and 11.42. NWI means no wind indicated. So you can see the difference between a 10.8 hh and an 11.42 FAT legal wind.
