So what is the consensus on Ted Roof? Sounds like his defenses have had mixed results at best. Is he well respected or was this a reach based on BOB knowing him?

Probably somewhere in between. He is well respected in coaching circles, and he did a good job as defensive coordinator at Georgia Tech and Minnesota. And it seems that Chizek and Roof simply weren't on the same page at Auburn, so I'm willing to give him some leeway there.

My biggest concern with Roof is that his schemes tend to be strong against the run but are less effective against good passing teams (sound familiar?).

But the bottom line is that O'Brien is going to have his hands full serving as a head coach for the first time in his life and calling the plays on offense, so it is imperative that he has someone as DC that he absolutely trusts. And Roof fits that bill.

BOB will call the plays and act as the OC.

The coaching staff is full so Clements isn't an option. Not sure why Godsey isn't confirmed because it is a done deal.
