  • If we are going to talk NFL ties with slight ties to OB....Here is one, Joe Judge

He is currently working on the Hoodie's staff as an assistant special teams coach and previously worked under Saban at Bama. Like Butler, has experience coaching LB more than DBs.

He would take over Butler's role as special teams guru.

    New England Patriots: Joe Judge

Joe Judge was named special teams assistant on May 10, 2012. Judge comes to the Patriots after a three-year stint at the University of Alabama as a football analyst under coach Nick Saban.

That would actually be awesome. Born and raised in Philly, played in the SEC, coached in the SEC. Young, hopefully hungry...

Yeah, plus from a quick google search you see the guy is a tough SOB:

Mississippi State holder Joe Judge was ejected from Saturday's 30-14 loss to Alabama game.

His penalty did not end there.

While standing on the sidelines, Judge, a senior, pushed Alabama defensive tackle Jeremy Clark over a bench when Clark attempted to punch MSU tackle David Stewart.

The play, which occurred in the third quarter, also resulted in Judge being suspended by the SEC for the first half of the Nov. 20 MSU-Arkansas game.

Mississippi State coach Sylvester Croom will suspend Judge for the second half.

"It was a critical error on his part," Croom said. "They were absolutely right and Joe Judge will be suspended for the first half by the SEC. I will suspend him for the second half."

Couldn't find the orginal story. Link to the message board that came up during the google search: http://www.tidefans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20388.

    Is this speech available anywhere?

I don't think so unless they post it on the AFCA site. I had to watch it from the overflow room. It's amazing how many college coaches attend the convention every year.

Jeremy Scott was let go last January, at the same time as John Thomas.

No exp with DB's but appears to be smart (Dean's list) and studied under some good football minds. Has all the right bases covered, ties to PA, the SEC and the NFL. Would be ok wth someone like that. Cbus's story seems to indicate he would fit right in with a bunch of "fighters".....

That was my concern also, but Butler didn't have significant experience with DBs either at a high level. Some work at Texas State and Catholic, but the rest were basically linebacker coaching jobs (even USCe).

  • The silence last week and this week leads me to believe that we will be getting a young guy from a playoff team... I'm guessing that CBus' Joe Judge guess may have been spot on...
