Maybe not a huge name, but I would be fine with that name for PSU. Don't see it happening though.
There is something about Mario that thinks he would do very well at a PSU. He is one of the up and coming younger coaches in the country and is intense. He has done a great job at FIU.
Black Shoes. Basic Blues. No Name. All Game.

I think if t was a college guy you would already know. NFL is better at keeping secrets. Plus the timeline makes sense for the NFL guys. Gruden, Munchak, Perry, Cowher are all pretty much available after Jan. 3. So it makes sense that it would be an NFL guy. Too many college coaches are available that if a college coach was coming to PSU, the school thy were leaving would be looking.

If the January 3 date is firm, I will tend to agree with you. We aren't talking Miles or Saban, so why not make the freaking announcement earlier. If its someone like a Richt, does it really matter at this point? He isn't coach in a BCS game.
I hoping they aren't holding back the announcement to eliminate distractions prior to our third-tiered bowl game. Since the week prior to the Nebraska game, this entire time has been nothing but distraction after distraction after distraction. Adding another distraction in this instance, if its a great hire, wouldn't be thought of as such. It would be welcomed by the players and the fan base to the juncture that overshines the bowl game.

not saying I give it one bit of credibility that he is a candidate but I'm throwing it out as a possible reason for the wait....
Chip Kelly has a clause in his contract that he cannot take another HC job until after the bowl game is over for that season or something along those lines. Now, that's not to say I think we're getting Chip Kelly (I dont) but its not unreasonable to think some other coaches might have a similar clause in their contracts

Interesting, and very well could have something to do with our timing in all of this. Personally, I'm putting more stock in the idea that:
a) The HC wants to finish his season and coach the bowl game (for instance Petersen at BSU with Kellen Moore graduating and 22 senior starters) OR b) We don't want the slightly negative press, at the expense of a few recruits, of forcing a coach to leave his current job for ours (which is a lame reason IMO) because then it looks like PSU isn't taking these allegations seriously and football is still paramount at PSU even above child sexual abuse
Neither option is by any means air-tight. I would lean towards b though. Maybe I'm way off on both.
