yeah, but they had huge signing bonuses in the deals for Suter and parise as well.

We don't know what the bonuses would've been in their deals with Nashville.

And if they weren't backing down from matching, they would've already matched it. I'm not saying it's a certainty that they're gonna let him walk, but the fact that they're sitting down to think it over shows that it's not as easy as you say it is. They don't have Comcast money to fall back on, they're a small market, small revenue team.

  • Shea Weber if the the offer is not matched will be the best player the Flyers have had since Lindros! Pronger in his prime would have held that title, but we got him in the twilight same goes for Forsberg. Giroux is still growing but he is more of a glue guy that holds everything together. Weber is a game changer like Lindros.

  • I don't see Nashville being able to match this. A trade as a compromise seems most likely, and I am sure the Flyers would rather alleviate some cap space too.

If the rumored asking price from Nashville is true, I think the Flyers just let them keep the four 1sts. I forget who, might have been Dreger, said that Nashville wanted Couturier, Schenn, and more.

Yeah, why give up more proven 1st round picks for more random one's? No way Philly does that.

I just think Nashville is in a corner here. They are not going to match, imo, but I can't imagine them selling their fanbase on just getting draft picks. I think they are going need to take a losing deal back of some kind of quality players.

I think they match or that franchise is toast in Nashville. No way they can sell letting Suter walk and having a chance to match Weber and letting him walk for some 1st round picks.

LOL, yeah, teams usually just match immediately without going over the offer sheet with a fine tooth comb, especially an offer this big. they have 7 days, ball is completely in their court.

He may be laughing, but he knows deep down that its true. I come from the old school philosophy of building around defensemen generally. Forsberg was an exception to my belief as he was an absolute wrecking ball!
