I agree with Emmitt on this. I agree with some of the rule changes that protect the players but not this one.
“I disagree with the rule altogether. It doesn’t make any sense for that position. It sounds like it’s been made up by people who have never played the game of football.’’

The NFLs kooky talk. And he has a good point.
profootballtalk.nbcsports.comI'll never understand the debate with head shot and lowering the head. IDK what your suposed to do in these situations. If you a defender and a guy is flying at you and your both roughly the same size how is your head not going to hit his. I don't know a lot about physics or anything but in order for me not to get hurt I have to go through that guy with more momentum in a more compact area so I'm not the one that get blow up because the other guy is looking to do the exact same thing to me.
I think the NFL could end this debate if it just came out and said it is a dangerous game and people will get hurt and the potential for death and debilitating injury is a real risk. Air all your dirty laundry and build for the future because the way it's going now it's not going to make it.

There's a difference between lowering your shoulder and lowering your head. As long as your eyes are up you should be fine. This will get the wind knocked out of a lot of RB's but might save them from some concussions.
My wife just brought up a good point. What about qb sneaks? They always lead with their heads.

This is what you get when lawyers have riggled their way into the NFL. The NFL is running scared from a liability standpoint right now.
