Ahhhh, Barry Sanders...was a pleasure to watch that man run

Still in my opinion the greatest running back of all time (I wasnt alive to watch Jim Brown).

I always wonder what would have happened if Sanders and Emmitt Smith changed teams.

Smith had arguably the greatest OL I have ever seen, a HOF TE, WR and QB and Barry had...

he had... Lomas Brown. Who was a much better pass blocker than a run blocker. No quarterback to speak of, barely any fullback until the latter part of his career and Herman Moore. Within striking distance of demolishing the all time rushing record Barry breaks my heart and retires because getting the record on a losing team is not something he wants any part of.

As I am just reading through the thread, I think that Paterno referred to Jared Odrick as one of the best Defensive Lineman to play at Penn State. Not saying Paterno did not hold Still in the same regard as Odrick, but I never read an article saying that, so I could be wrong.

---- Penn State All-American defensive tackle Jared Odrick finds himself in a pretty exclusive neighborhood.

Joe Paterno recently compared Odrick to some of the best defensive linemen he has coached in his 44-year Hall of Fame career.

Paterno rattled off the names of Matt Millen and Mike Reid, two first-team All-Americans, and he also mentioned Steve Smear, a second-team All-American who played alongside Reid on the Nittany Lions' undefeated teams in 1968 and '69.

"[Odrick's] played really well, he's a great leader on the field and he reminds me a lot of the good ones we've had," Paterno said. "Matt Millen, who played defensive tackle for us, is the same kind of guy." . . .

    Ron Musselman Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Dec 29, 2009

I believe it was said by Ki-jana Carter at the Blue-White game about what Joe said about Still, but I'm not positive. Something about "Most disruptive interior D-lineman I've ever coached" or something like that. I believe it was mentioned somewhere during the Illinois game also, but again, I can't remember for sure. I'm about due to watch the BlueWhite game again so I'll check in after that. The Illinios game is never leaving my DVR so I'll check that also.

    Until then, this was online:

“During that time when he was hurt, he (Paterno) told Devon he’d be the best defensive lineman to ever come out of Penn State,” Still’s father, Antonio Still, said. “That’s pretty special. It really inspired Devon because he went out and had a tremendous season and tried to prove those words to be true.”

  • Florida player final gets drafted.

Technically Jenkins transferred, and a lot went pro last year, but not a good ending overall for that amazing class Urban pulled in four years ago.

The Seahawks are absolutely mystifying. What on earth are they doing?

Well Sean, hopefully Cousins develops into either a very good backup or a guy you can trade down the road for picks.

Bingo. The hope is that the 'Skins can trade this guy for a first round pick down the road. RGIII will get hurt at some point. Cousins will surely start a game or two.

I came across this article yesterday after researching Jenkins.

    "12. FLORIDA 2008

    Janoris Jenkins
    Class rank: 3rd.

The signees: Five-stars: ATH Will Hill (No. 10), DT Omar Hunter (No. 17), OT Matt Patchan (No. 18), WR Carl Moore (JUCO transfer). Four-stars: CB Janoris Jenkins (No. 51), LB Brendan Beal (No. 73), LB William Green (No. 83), LB Lerentee McCray (No. 115), S Dee Finley (No. 124), ATH Adrian Bushell (No. 157), WR Omarius Hines (No. 163), WR T.J. Lawrence (No. 165), WR Frankie Hammond Jr. (No. 212), RB Jeffrey Demps (No. 241), CB Jeremy Brown, DE Earl Okine. Three-stars: DT Troy Epps, LB T.J. Pridemore, C Sam Robey, OT David Young. Two-stars: DT Byran Jones, K/P Caleb Sturgis.

What went wrong: If we were simply rating which Top 10 classes had underachieved the most, this group might rank higher on the list. But we're focusing on which classes were hurt the most by defections or other off-field issues. The four five-star recruits in this class haven't necessarily lived up to their rankings thus far, but all have stayed at Florida for the duration of their college careers (though Hill chose to enter the draft earlier than expected). Jenkins was kicked off the team and finished his career at North Alabama, but he played at an All-America level before running into trouble. Other four-star transfers included Beal (Minnesota), Bushell (Louisville), Finley (North Alabama) and Lawrence (Florida A&M). Pridemore and Jones also have left the program.

Farrell's take: "This class is loaded with kids who didn't live up to the billing. Will Hill became more famous for his Twitter feed than his play on the field, Hunter and Patchan have not been five stars and many of the rest are a good reason why Florida had a rough season this year. Janoris Jenkins really hurt, he was a great SEC player."

  • Don't get me wrong, I really like Cousins. I think he'll be in the league for 10 years, but with so many glaring needs on this team I don't think it was the right time to grab him.

I'm a 'Skins fan too. I don't mind the pick. RGIII is going to get hurt eventually. I don't want Grossman coming in if we don't have to. If Cousins plays well in a game or two, we can trade him for a coup.

I'm a fan of Bobby Massie...Skins could have used him.

Did Andy take the week off?

Throwing me for a curve that Jerry Jones AND Andy Reid are making good decisions in the draft at the same time.

  • Josh Chapman is a great pick for the Colts, IMO, especially in the 5th round. Get a solid NT for the 3-4. I've been saying they need to get defensive players for that 3-4, because they just have so few guys who fit it.

  • Yea, Redskins deserve the head slap WTF are they thinking drafting two QB's especially when you paid an arm and a leg for the #2 overall pick who happens to be a QB!

    They are dense.

If winning was easy even losers would do it.

  • Totally have forgotten about Burfict. Haven't followed this draft all that closely. What the hell happened to him? I remember when he was a Top 15 pick.

Supposedly some big-time character red flags.

4.90 fourty. Supposedly, came off really bad in the interview portion of the combine to top it off.

interesting that he goes to a pass heavy team. Thought he was a much better run blocker, no?
