I honestly hope Miami gets nothing more. Did they cheat? Probably, but if the best the NCAA has is a convicted felon saying things twice about certain things, that's ludicrous and quite frankly insulting. Miami sat out two bowl games and the ACC title game on their own. The NCAA investigation lasted 2.5 years and ended with the word of a convicted felon and them investigating themselves. What a sham.

Punishment is time served and move on. After reading that release Miami is warning the NCAA that a lawsuit is coming if it's more than time served.

The joke of the matter is the NCAA is proving it has to "cheat" to catch the cheaters. What good are they anymore to have around without subpeona powers? They can't govern college football and basketball and the amount of money being tossed around right now. Something is clearly wrong and the NCAA has no power to fix it. The conference commissioners and University presidents need to stand up and say enough is enough. Review the rules and come up with standards for investigations and punishments. Come up with a valid point system for punishments in addition to acually enforcing a legitimate grad rate policy per sport. Women's field hockey should not carry the men's teams IMO.

  • I guess in the end the NCAA just hopes that every University is run by dopes and will basically plea bargin before anything else has to be investigated.

Sad thing is 99.9999999999% of presidents out there actually stand up for their school.

lololololololololololol.... I wish Erickson had a back bone and some balls to go along with it. This is ridiculous... way to defend your university.. We may never know why Erickson accepted the penalties without a fight.. I am honestly starting to believe that there is a huge cover up that we dont know about and it starts with Erickson and Emmert.

"Lack of Institutional Control" ... HA... Ive heard that one before. Why doesnt the NCAA take that phrase and shove it?

I firmly believe the real "cover up" is our BOT. Not sure of the details but I'm convinced there was an intentional attempt to Fry Paterno, Spanier, Curley, and Shultz. I don't know why may it's connections to the Second Mile or Corbett deflecting from his CF or just sheer hatred of Paterno.

  • Selfishly, I hope the NCAA levies more sanctions against Miami. Sorry Miami fans.

I hope this, again selfishly, because the more lawsuits against the NCAA the better. They can't win them all. If enough pile up maybe the gov't will actually do something.

The NCAA needs to be destroyed!!!!

I feel like anytime anyone tells Emmert that he can't do something, he goes ahead and does it anyways. He's arrogant, smug, and in way over his head.

I expect the harshest penalties that he's allowed in this case an a huge backlash an uproar from Miami. The guy is all about power.

Just look at his actions one day after Shalala calls him out for the corruption in the investigation. He issues a statement firing VP of enforcement, but stating his investigation is no longer tainted because he has other evidence, and gives notice of allegations. One day after he says he wasn't informed at any step in the process of how the investigation is going.

Guy wasn't even patient enough or tactful enough to wait a month to give notice or double check his "facts".
