I think it is 7 in championship round and 2 in wrestlebacks. MacIntosh lost in second round. We are in good shape right now.

And last year Ruth suffered that knee injury in the semis... he still managed to win his next two matches for 3rd. If Tank has to wrestle on one leg that is an awful lot to ask in order for him to contribute big team points. Hopefully they can treat it tonight so it isn't a problem tomorrow. We'll see.

Crap! I remember Ruth last yr. He was impressive to do well his next match. Frank deserves his title. I hope he is ok. If he can get pastthis nextmatch, his next one looks easier... on paper at least.

Quentin and Wade, though lesser seeds, are good enogh and experienced enough that they wouldn't ne shocking wins should they wrestle well

They are close in the point totals but they each only have 4 wrestlers in the Championship Bracket.

I guess that widens the lead a bit doesn't it?
Maybe one of the wrestling buffs here can answer me on this. Does the points earned per match increase as the wrestlers advance further into the bracket?

Depends how you look at it. In the championship bracket, you get 1 advancement point for the team scoring for winning a bout. You get 0.5 points for advancing in the consolation bracket. That does not change as you go deeper into the bracket.
However, for the guys that win today in the champ round to get to the semifinals, they have clinched at least 6th place overall, so they are being credited for the team points for a 6th place finish. If they win again in the semis, they will be awarded the additional points for clinching at worst 2nd place. I'd have to look up the team points for those various finishes, but I think it's still:
16 - 12 - 10 - 9 - 7 - 6 - 4 - 3

Just watch out for Iowa. They have bonused twice today, and all of their guys have won so far. I'm not sure they can make up the deficit, but I never feel easy with them until they are mathematically eliminated.

Martellotti lost in the wrestle backs and Iowa picked up a big win late and gives them the lead right now but Penn State is getting into there big stretch.

Iowa is charging hard right now. That Dylan Alton/Derek St. John match at 157 is enormous. Could really use an upset from Alton.
In other news, Minnesota has had three wrestlers in the first three QFs... and all three were dismissed to the consis!

Just a HUGE win for Nico ... his quote afterwards about being an All American was something like, I don't care about that I'm going for #1.
When asked about facing the guy from Cornell next, who he lost to twice this year, he said something along the lines of looking for revenge tonight.
