just listening to that, I'm really intrigued in what the spring game will look like this year.. it's the first time we'll see the team and have no idea what to expect.. rather than most year's where we almost can predict the play being called on either side of the ball..

From what some of the former college players said about him, it seems so. I think Thaddeus Lewis mentioned how influential O'Brien was on his ability to read defenses.

Now we have the logic behind Ted Roof. He coaches the philosophy BOB wants. Should be an interesting experiment.

Let's hope the years of Roof's poor defenses were partially because he didn't have the players to fit his scheme.
We'll be lacking in the back 4 on D (and playing man coverage, which sounds like what Roof prefers, is certainly iffy at best) big time, but we've got some athletes at LB who can blitz well. Still not a fan of Roof, but I'm willing to give him a chance with our front 7 position coaches.

Guy impresses me more and more every time I listen to him. I think he has a great football mind and seems like he knows that he has to accomplish to do well. Most of the things we have been calling for over the past few years, it seems O'Brien is going to do.

Fact that O'Leary embellished his academic resume doesn't mean he doesn't have football knowledge and can't cocach. B O'B was obviously influenced by him and I'll bet B O'B never asked to see O'Leary's resume. People are people and some make bad decisions. This "guilt by association" pre-judgmental thing should ring to the core of every PSU acolyte, given the recent JS scandal. I won't judge B O'Bs "love" for O'Leary just b/c O'Leary screwed up by embellishing his resume.
Just sayin'. Could be wrong, but I'm liking that B O'B is talkin' the talk. I hope he can deliver. I will remain optimistic even through the next 3 crappy years if it means a return to prominence for my alma mater for years to come after that! As long as he is willing to stay. Look at the BB program. 10 years of Jerry Dunn followed by 9 years or so of Ed Dechellis. Can Pat Chambers really pull it off? Dunno. We have the facilities in both BB and FB to be a major force in both sports. Let's hope that FB doesn't dissipate to the level of our men's BB team.
At the end of the day I am optimistic in both PCs chances and B O'Bs chances at our two premier mens varsity teams.
