I'd love to see a timeline of candidate names, reporters and the reporters' expressed confidence in their reports.

LOL exactly. When the info comes from Davey Jones, "TIFWIW" equals somewhere around 0. Just not too long ago he was telling us to lower expectations because only a dud would want to coach for Penn State. Now it's Munch? LOL

Well if it is Munchak, we should find out in one week. Tennessee's chances of making the playoffs are very slim. Here's the scenarios:

TEN scenario, if u can follow: TEN W, CIN L, NYJ L, OAK W & DEN W = TEN in. Same with TEN win, CIN loss, NYJ win, OAK win & DEN loss.

Jones' coverage of this coaching search has been laughable to say the least. From his begging for PSU to hire Murhey and Clements, to naming every possible coach under the sun as "interested". To top that off, he runs an article saying Petersen isn't interested with no quotes from anyone. I have no idea who the "shocking" coach is, but I would laugh if it came out of left field just to piss off the media.

Pro coach with a good recruiting staff can work. JP didn't recruit all that hard the last decade.

Do you really think that Cowher, Dungy, Gruden et al would not bring in recruits by the bus load? Kids would flock to them. NOT suggesting they are candidates, just speaking to your comment about pro coaches. It depends who it is.

With a guy like Munchak who is a hall of famer I don't think sparking kids interest is a problem and given he is one of, if not the best O-line coaches on the planet you would have any o-line with half a brain wanting to play for him. Once that happens the prgram wins IMO. Once the program wins constantly then kids want to go there.

Beyond that, listen to most of these kids, they bond with their posistion coachs as much as their head coaches. Good asst's and you are fine if your head coach can do anything positive. Most of these pro coaches are very personable and great motivators cause thats what it takes at that level.

Pro coach will not be a problem.
