I wish we had a better option then moxie for qb. That being said I think he will be better then last year or at least will appear to be better. For the first time in a long while we have a staff and head coach who will design game plans to attack our opponents and to hide our weaknesses. I think bob will not put moxie in situations to make to many mistakes. I do not think moxie will necessarily win games but I think bob will not Allow him to make mistakes to cost us games, I am thinking bubby brister from the steelers years ago or at least that is what I am hoping.

Even if we had a staff with Bill Walsh, Joe Gibbs and Don Coryell in their prime, I don't think even they could hide the weaknesses of McGloin.

Coaches can only do so much. They physically can't go through reads and progressions, and they can't give him a steriod injection before the game to increase that wet noodle he has for an arm.
Ultimately, this team will ride on the successes and failures of McGloin, and IMO, there will be more failures than successes. I just wished we had chosen the QB with less physical limitations......................this way, I could stomach the mistakes a bit more, knowing that that individule at least that the "ability".

Bubby Brister. There's a name I haven't heard in years.
Regarding McGloin, he has two truly disastrous games in his PSU career -- the Outback Bowl against Florida and last year's Alabama game. Take away those two games, and he has been no worse than an "average" B1G QB, IMO.

I intentionally didn't include that game because he was actually very good in the first half. He threw 2 TD passes, which was the most by a PSU QB in the 'Shoe since the early 1960s. However, in the second half Tressel made some good adjustments that Galen/Jay didn't answer, and McGloin was then put in the type of bad spot that TRock described in his original post.

Silas's ability to stay healthy and productive (which in turn is related to the work of the OL) will really determine Matt's success this season. He has the brain and the instincts to be successful, but he needs the help from those around him and behind him in the backfield. The complexity of the offense will not hinder Matt's ability to succeed, he is up for it.
...and if you're not down with that, then I got 2 words for ya.."suck it!!"
