Most Exciting Moment In Beaver Staduim You've Had?

  • What was your most exciting moment ever in Beaver Stadium? If this question was asked already, sorry, My most exciting monent was watching Blacklege
led the offense down for the winning score against Neb. in 82 Stone Hands Kurt Bowman caught TD. pass in endzone with seconds left on clock. My seats where in SJ Row 56. I think Offense took over ball with less than a minute and a half left. Students tore goal the post down and carried them downtown.

  • First Beaver Stadium - stadium wide whiteout - vs Notre Dame, when Derrick Williams returned the punt for a touchdown. Stadium was crazy.

I'm sure the OSU white out of 05 was better when Tamba forced the fumble, but I wasn't there.

  • I have two, its to close to pick between the two, 1997 Ohio State game Aaron Harris breaking that long run when it seemed Ohio State was taking control of the game. The 2005 Ohio State Game. The entire game the crowd was electric from start to finish, also it was the end of the losing seasons.

  • For me as a student, it was the 2002 Nebraska game and Rich Gardner's pick 6. As a professional, it had to be the 2005 Ohio State game. I remember being on the sidelines for the last five minutes and not being able to hear the person next to me unless they were screaming.

  • 2002 Nebraska ... I was a student and the entire game ... the atmosphere was unlike anything I have ever experienced before or since. I have been to AFC Championship games, NHL Playoffs, MLB Wednesday night games against the Astros (sorry I am a bucco fan hahaha) .. and the feeling in that stadium with that many people was just ...... words can't explain it.

I wasn't there for OSU in 05' to compare.

I will talk about that night game the rest of my life.

  • 05 OSU brought college football from my 3rd-4th favorite sport to #1 where it has remained every since.

  • Without a doubt the '05 OSU game. I remember after the game just standing there with my arms raised in the air feeling like the weight of the world was lifted off my shoulders. I will never forget the people that ran out onto the field were not jubliant but more relieved that it was over. I was in WD row 2 and had so I could see the looks on their faces. It was thank god.... thank god ......

  • 2002 Rich Gardner INT return for me as well - I ended up a few rows below where I was sitting. Pandemonium.

  • For me, as a student in 1995, it was vs Michigan. It was the game where 3 feet of snow fell the previous 48 hours. Several students worked overnight to clear the stands. During the game, snowball fights were everywhere and even Joe had to yell at the students for throwing snowballs on the field.

We were up by 3 and we drove the field in the 4th and the drive stalled. We lined up for a field goal and would have left plenty of time for Michigan to drive, with us up only 6. Joe called the fake field goal and the place went crazy! We won 27-17 and it was a great moment at Beaver Stadium.

On a personal note, my group was actually tossed from that game due to snowball fighting but with it being so cold, we had tons of layers of clothing. We took off a layer and got back in and witnessed the great 4th quarter.

Gardner's pick 6 was the loudest I'd ever heard the stadium. Louder than the 2005 OSU game, no doubt.

The OSU game was more enjoyable (because I love beating OSU), but that Nebraska game was just insane.

  • being in the endzone of this years illinois game

  • 05 OSU game. I was a freshman in high school and my sister got me into the student section after halftime. Complete craziness.

  • I think my favorite moment (although it quickly turned to shit) was the opening play of Iowa in 2009(?) when Clark threw a bomb off of play action for a TD. but then it all went downhill.

  • I would have to say the 2005 Minnesota game. The thing that really set this one apart for me was that we really didn't know what we had as a team at this point. We had narrowly escaped Northwestern on the road and were just coming out of the "Dark Years"... though we didn't know that at this point. Most fans that I talked to had no idea what to expect for this game and Minnesota was thought of as an offensive juggernaut coming in. Obviously the game was a blow-out and was highlighted by Robinsons bowling over of the Minnesota DB (Right below where we were seated) and Poz's launching himself into the air to keep the Minnesota RB out of the endzone. I don't believe I had ever heard Beaver Stadium so loud and rambunctious before that game. Left the stadium feeling very pumped up and excited for what would be a special season.

Yep, same for me. It was 2009. Place was rocking at that moment, then it all fell apart.

  • Tough to pick, but I'll go with LJ's 40 yard TD run to break 2,000 yards against MSU. Game was a blowout, but that moment was pretty awesome.

  • No moments pre-1995, aside from the opening post?
    Almost everyone points to 2002 & 2005?

Man, is this message board young.

I'd be curious to see if any of the older alumni/fan remember the 1978 Pitt game in person - I was barely alive, but I have heard that was an enormous game for the PSU program - Pitt was Top 10, PSU was hoping to remain undefeated & set themselves up for a first-ever #1 ranking at season's end . . . .

. . . .and PSU was losing to Pitt late in the 2nd half on a 4th & goal.

  • 2005 OSU, and I don't think it's close. After winning 7 games the last 2 years, the students were so amp'd up to be winning again, and there was just something about that 2005 team that it always seemed like they would find a way to win. The crowd was crazy. In the student section, everyone was going nuts. As soon as OSU got the ball people were screaming their heads off, and they didn't stop for huddles, timeouts, anything. It was just constantly loud. Then there was the infamous stadium rocking during Zombie Nation, and the explosion after Tamba got Troy Smith to do a headstand. Totally insane game.

Don't forget about "F-U-fif-teen" and "Get-a-hair-cut" chants. That clown was showboating and dancing around after every play, even though his team was getting the snot kicked out of them.

  • 05 OSU game, white out, my buddy and i were with my uncle(his tickets) my grandparents, my parents and i think one or two cousins, sitting on the 45 yard line, zombie nation rocking the entire stadium...almost thought we were gonna have a collapse, my buddy and i stormed the field, i got a little bit of maced on my right eye which sucked, and then the gameday afterwards was amazing, i knew penn state was the school i wanted to go to after that weekend

followed by the illini game, that last field goal where the student section converged together to help make some chaos behind the posts was unbelievable so much fun

  • 1. Osu 2005- it's going to take a hell of a game to touch IMO

    2. Michigan 08- beating those guy finally was so satisfying, especially after it looked bleak again

    4. Minny 05- perfect day- you could just see things coming together in front of my own eyes

    5. 400- I was young when the 94 comeback against the Illinois happened so it was cool to see

    6. Illinois 08- dwill 3 TSS

    7. 04 Iowa- yea we lost but I'll never forget it

  • OSU 2005 for me. After watching PSU lose a game 6-4 the previous season, it was amazing to be at that game. You just felt a vibe in the stadium. Everyone was ready and brought everything they had for PSU that day. Between the Drum Major sticking it to the OSU band and the fans being out for blood, definitely not the classiest moment but the student section turning our backs to tOSU dan because they dared come into our territory.

But by far, the play on the field was amazing. They might not have played the greatest game, but they definitely would not let themselves lose that game.

  • Only because it was my freshman year as a student and we were working towards gaining back our status as a national power....

First and foremost for me it's Tamba Hali's sack of Troy Smith to end the OSU game in 2005.

    After that it goes:
Richard Gardner pick 6 vs. Nebraska in 2002
Larry Johnson breaking the 2000k mark vs. MSU in 2002
    ND Whiteout game in 2007
Winning the B1G title at home vs. MSU my senior year in 2009
LaVar Leap vs. Illinois in 1998

    Lastly:
I was in Beaver Stadium for JoePa's 300th vs. Bowling Green, 324th vs. OSU, 400th vs. Northwestern, and 409th and final victory vs. Illinois.
