And then the whole consent decree thing. Geez... defending any of these morons (BOT) is offensive.

In the Freeh report, some of this was outlined. Erickson and others in the provost's office at the time questioned why Sandusky was going to be offered Emeritus status because he was not a typical candidate and did not meet the usual standards for such an award. Spanier basically told Erickson to sign it despite is questions. If anything, it seems Erickson did his part to raise the question and express concern about setting a new precedent but was overruled by Spanier.
I don't think Erickson is part of the Ole Boy network as much as he is just a reserved, naive puppet for the BOT in this mess. They picked him because he was a pushover, not because he was one of them....

If the NCAA gets rid of Emmert I wonder what approach he would take when testifying in the PA vs. NCAA case if it goes that far. At that point he would have no reason not to say that they threatened PSU with the DP in order to get them to sign off on the sanctions.
