    I think its highly probably that Midget will coach all DB's in 2014. A little too young and green to get all of that responsibility right away and I think its a transition period for him and Butler. Transitiioning Butler to full time DC and Midget into a DB's coach. He just needs to prove himself this year and then I would expect he takes over the whole thing next.

    Agree. That was my first thought when i read that they were splitting up the cb's and safeties.

  • read all these comments...here's what I do know: O'Brien has it all under control. If he hired Midget, it was for good reason. Present history tells us that O'Brien knows how to put together a staff. Given that history, why are some of these replies posted? Trust in the man.biggrin

    Couldn't agree more. Many were tripping on the board when the hire wasn't made right away. Excellent hire IMO who has some recruiting ties to the south. Winner!

    Yeah, they always are and that area is always only showing half of their athletes because most of them don't make it through the grind and school. It's really sad because its a huge hotbed for football and bball talent. Playing teams from that area is a tall order come time for states, but a lot of their participation in the sports drop off by their sophomore years.

    One of my goals is to eventually help clean up that area and coaching their in the future, but for now I'm blessed with another hotbed in the state in northern va.

    Working in figuring that out, but heard possibilities as some sort of professional liaison. Again, not sure at all, but will update as soon as I know. Mgd99 probably be the best bet in this one.

    Disagree. The way the game is played now the safety is in man to man coverage in a lot of situations now. Especially with an aggressive defense that butler wants to play. I would anticipate a few zero coverage looks. Especially with the emergence of athletic tight ends the safety would be in coverage there too.

    Safetieshave more in common with Linebackers is my opinion also. So I am in disagreement with this.

    I am always a little worried about a kid coming from Norfolk or certain schools in VA Beach. I guess you can say the same about Newport News or Hampton as well. School is not emphasized nearly enough down there, so even if you have a good kid who is willing to work, he gets to college and is smacked in the face with what education really is. But yes, you absolutely have to look in that area every year... too much talent there to ignore.
