The NCAA is full of sh!t and used this as an unjust money and power grab when they had no business getting involved the way they did.

Nothing we didn't already know, but good to see that people like this, so close to the entire situation, are speaking out against Emmert and his ridiculous actions here.

  • Wish Freeh himself would come out and say this. Anything that makes Emmert look bad is a good thing in my book. Why would any school from here forward try to get to the bottom of anything ever again if the NCAA is looming in the background. Very sad because the current Penn State leaders went into this really trying to make things better and if they knew the NCAA would end up F'ing them with this, they would have just done their own internal investigation. I hope Washington hires the Freeh group to look at their cover-up of rape and see how Emmert reacts to that.....

  • he better come out and say the same thing... WTF

  • "The Freeh team reviewed how Penn State operated, not how they worked within the NCAA's system," this person said. "The NCAA's job is to investigate whether Penn State broke its rules and whether it gained a competitive advantage in doing so."

    Ummm...yeah.

"One man didn't build this program and one man sure as hell cannot tear it down."

One more reason why Erickson's and the BOT's decision to bend over and take it really sucks.

The evidence is mounting that the NCAA's action was not simply unprecedented, it was unwarranted and in violation of all sense of fairness and the "due process" the NCAA claims it provides to its member institutions, as well, IMO, in violation of its constitution.

  • Here's the thing...

People have mentioned that the Freeh Report didn't have subpoena power IIRC, but the NCAA has none whatsoever. What do you think they would've been able to determine about the scandal that the Freeh Report didn't?

Just another reason why the FR was designed to throw the football program under the bus.

  • Erickson is so incompetent that it's almost laughable. Even the Freeh group is defending Penn State against the NCAA's sanctions, yet Erickson bent over for emmert. Our president gave up $73 million for an opinion piece. Erickson needs to go before he causes even more damage to our university, if that's even possible.

    MtNittMoonshine

  • Someone send this article to Erickson. Hey buddy, thanks for F...... this university, Nice job. You spent 6.5 million to lose 100 million & almost kill a football program. Nice job. And thanks to tha trustees for bending over & taking one up the Sandusky. You call yourselves leaders but all but a few have any guts. Stand up for your school & fight. Take a look at the football players and learn something.

  • We really do eventually need to move on as BO'B has implored, but I must say that really was a great read. It was important to hear that stuff from a source of that caliber. Although we knew a lot of that on our own, his points made and defended in a highly intelligent manner. It was a very well formulated argument and really is something Emmert should read.

  • seriously, whats done is done, what ifs and have nots are not going to change the situation.. in a weird way, this week made me even prouder to be a penn stater.. to see all the players who got $hit on, stick together and fight for the school, fans, students shows how much the university means to them as it does to us long time grads.. i think this season is going to be crazy, every game is an opportunity to prevent your opponent from winning a national title. every week is now a bowl game and i think the players will appreciate each game more than ever before...
