McGloin's biggest flaw

  • I think his biggest failure as a leader is the inability of the Offense to sustain drives, thus leaving too many points on the field and off of the scoreboard.

His stats are good after 4 games. I believe he needs to maintain a +60% completion average and as long as his TD/INT ratio remains the same we'll be alright against this years' B1G opponents.

Keep in mind that in the first two losses the D gave up 18/20 3rd-down conversions to the opponents in the 2nd half alone! Not to mention Ficken's poor performance against VA. This team very well could be 4-0.

The next 3 weeks we beat Ill and Iowas. NW game is a toss up, but it's homecoming. So like our chances.

  • McGloin is an incredibly streaky player. When he is "on", he can look like a legit D1 QB. When he is off though, he doesn't look like he could play D2. The cockiness is definitley an issue, but it probably serves this particular team pretty well. This year especially, we need some feerless players out there. He is basically our transition QB BOB and his staff finish putting in their system and bringing in some fresh talent that suits it.

  • Kid is playing within him self and the system, that's all I could ask for of him. He's improved a great deal in minimal time.

Can't be that he needed a real QB coach, could it?

Well this is not what I expected when I saw you were the last to comment on MM. I agree. He's never going to suddenly have amazing ability, but he's certainly made strides from being a pretty terrible decision maker who thinks he can make every throw.

  • I don't think it's anything more complicated than McGloin playing in a better system. Same quarterback, better system. He wasn't as bad as many thought last year, not sure he's as good as some think this year. Saturday was encouraging in many aspects, thought it was O'Brien's best game of the year by far, and McGloin looked like he was seeing the field better and making better reads. This week's game will tell us a lot more.

I've gushed about MM this year, but my comments have to be taken into context with his limitations. At this point, I just figure we've discussed his limitations enough. He really has improved a lot, if anything between the ears.

I'm just excited to see what this offense could do with a legit QB.

Yep. I think the people gushing are comparing it to what was there before (even if some don't recognize that). Kid has made huge strides. Hopefully it continues.

Pretty much it. He'll have a bad game or two, but most can see that. It's odd that a few seem to waiting for it like they will have discovered fire when he does have a bad game.

No, I think some have simply seen this before from him and are being cautiously optimistic. He's had great games before against average to below average defenses. We've seen him get WAY too overconfident then and his play eventually reflected that overconfidence. He shows signs of that now (such as the holding fingers up for HIS TD passes), so it worries some of us what will happen when he does have those games again.

He's in a very good system right now that spreads the ball around...he's played some bad defenses at the same time.....but he has done well within that system so far. Credit to him. It doesn't make us bad fans because we are still questioning what he will do the rest of the year.

I still have my doubts this kid will be a great leader when things go bad in big ten play, if they do. He's always been a rah rah guy in good times. Some of us simply don't want to drink the kool-aid at this point just yet.

And to hear that announcer suggest MM will have a chance with an NFL roster next year.....O. M. G.

  • MM is a rehabilitated QB under BO'B's system. He is not doubt the most improved player on the PSU squad year over year.

He also has the biggest ego of any PSU FB player that I have ever seen in my lifetime. I remember the Scott Fitzkee "strut" and he has nothing over MM!

At the end of the day, I'm happy for Moxie's improvement, but the better he gets, the worse he is personally. He's become such an arrogant turd that he's hardly tolerable by the fan base.

I loved mm because he was like the underdog but he such a douche with that cocky attitude

  • Give credit where credit is due. He has never played better than under BOB. He has limitations, but he has never been more productive. Can't wait to see what BOB can do with a qb with a higher skill set.

Like I said some, you in particular are waiting for that bad game. Have fun with that. This has little to do with kool aid at this point in time. He's PSU's QB and that isn't going to change minus an injury. We all know he is capable of having some bad games, but he is playing well right now. You seem to think you are the only one that knows this for some reason. Sit back and then thump your chest when he has that bad game....I'm sure it will come. Then you can say I told you guys so even though the vast majority know it is a possibility.

And when he does we know you'll be here blaming someone else and excusing whatever me-first, embarrassing antics result.

Yeah,,,that's it as his antics are what make or break my day. This was about his play on the field I thought? His antics are your hang up...not mine. No way a 22 year old kid 1200 miles away playing a game ever "embarrasses" me.
