Not nearly as cool as Silas Redd's tweet on new years day..

"my new years resolution .. work harder than I ever worked be4 this off season.. come back stronger and faster to help lead my team to a NC.."

    Love that kid.

The reason I'll be buying a Nike 25 jersey as soon as it's released.

  • You can custom order them at the family clothes line, that's how I got my redd jersey

Bolden on McGloin, "He was a great mentor, I learned what NOT to do."

    that would be funny

Bolden is too humble to say anything like that. haha. That would be hilarious though.

  • Gotta love this kid's confidence. I wish we had more players that sure of themselves.

Morelli also shouted "I own this team" after throwing a TD into double-coverage on the first offensive series against Akron and look how that turned out.

At least he had the arm strength to be confident....Mac needs to realize he's not Brett Favre he's more like a poor mans Zach Mills. Actually I miss Mills, he wouldn't have spoken out like that and had a lot more poise/moxie/gusto than this kid.

    From twitter:

@VictoryBellRings: Matt McGloin tonight on Bolden "He was a good back up to have"

Could this kid get anymore cockier. It is unbelievable.

    Check stuff out.

His Twiiter page is "MacQB11". No such tweet shows up.

Not my favorite, but not a hater. I simply don't think he is THAT stupid!

    mad4psu

  • yeah, i'd prefer someone else to be the starting QB, but fabricating tweets to slander him is just plain silly.

    gotta love message board rumor-mongering.

which reminds me, i heard that Bolden tweeted that he nailed McGloin's girlfriend! sarcasm

No, it wasn't a tweet directly on McGloin's twitter page. It was a tweet from somebody at a Scranton basketball game who asked Matt what he thought of the situation. The tweet was on the reporters twitter page and was quoted with what was stated in the original post.

Morelli didn't carry himself with any confidence though. He always looked lost like a deer in headlights.

McGloin actually carries himself with that confidence you need in a QB. Did he have a stinker of a game? Sure he did. But it happens to the best of QBs, and he's obviously not even close to that.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Bolden WAS the backup to finish the year.

  • i was quite aware. but that quote reeks of disrespect, which is very unbecoming of someone who's supposedly a "leader".

  • I'd like to give McGloin the benefit of the doubt and think that it was in the context of him saying that Bolden was a good backup because they worked together, etc. (I don't know if they did, just giving an example of how it may not be a bad thing).

But I'm not feeling much love towards McGloin lately, so he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt. When playing football, there is a very fine line between things such as confidence, arrogance, and even ignorance. Throwing 5-8 INT's in a game isn't confidence - it's idiocy. People can call it "moxie" all they want (yes, I know most people say that in jest now), if you don't learn from your mistakes, it's not confidence, it's stupidity.

How is that disrespect? He didn't say anything that wasn't true.

*A* stinker of a game!?!?! As in, singular???

And Bolden wasn't even having a "stinker of a game" when he got yanked. He just took a sack (from an UNTOUCHED blitz, I might add). If having a "stinker of a game" happens to the best QBs, you certainly agree that even the best QBs take some sacks, right?

on face value, yes it's a fact.

in between the lines, it's disrespect.

that's why i said that "it reeks of disrespect", rather than "it's an outright disrespectful statement".

The difference is that the offense was downright anemic with Bolden under center.

Here's what a class act says:

"Rob was a great teammate to have. I know he might not have been happy with the way the season ended, but in practices we constantly challenged one another and made each other better. If he decides to transfer I wish him the best of luck, but if he goes, not only will we be losing a player, but I'll be losing a friend."

  • As another poster on FOS pointed out (I normally never agree with this guy, but...), it should be noted that McGloin's comments came after these from Bolden's father:

"I felt McGloin did a good job under the circumstances of him being a third-string guy."

    http://blog.pennlive.com/davidjones/2011/01/rob_bolden_will_transfer_out_o.html

I'm becoming a huge PJ fan.

So lying is now considered "classy?"
