McGloin Q&A

  • I didn't see anything wrong with that article or his responses. He most definitely could have thrown the old staff way under the bus way worse. You could have put any of the qb's names on this interview and I think it would fit. Last year it seamed the QB's were in the dark with the amount of playing time they would receive and I think all the players would appreciate it if the staff would just let them know where they stand and what to expect. For some reason the more time goes on the more I am rooting for McGloin to be successful, and not just for a wins and losses reasons.

He's going to be hard pressed selling insurance in West Scranton with that attitude of his.

He's still lucky he didn't wind up with a worse beating before the bowl game.

Well Mr. McGloin, the difference is the other QBs wouldn't make comments like that to the media. Even Bolden, who had every reason to trash the staff following the 2010 season never made such remarks. I used to be a big defender of Mac, but I'm just about at the point where I would literally rather see Bench start even if it made us a worse team. Come on PJ!!!!!!

  • This guy has everything going for him to be a cult hero.

Walk on steps in and wins 400 and 409.

Yet I can't stand the guy and this is exactly why.

Maybe the question isnt why Curtis Drake knocked McGloin out... but how has only one guy done it?

I tried rooting for McGloin last year. I really did. I have found it impossible to do. And you dont think BoB reads this stuff? There's probably no one that wants Jones to pick up the offense by training camp as much as BoB does so he doesnt have to deal with this dick for the whole season.

  • Agree, now we know why Drake did what he did, surprising others didn't do it before.

  • I just get tired of every time this kid has his name attached to something it has to be bad. If you said that interview was with Paul Jones or Rob Bolden the reaction would have been 100% different. There weren't really any inflammatory comments just people looking for things. Everybody hates when athletes give vanilla answers to questions but anytime they actually answer them people flip out. All he said about the old staff was they didn't let the QB's know where they stand...TRUTH. How is that bashing the old staff. It's fact. I hardly consider that bashing. He was even giving the opportunity to sling more arrows and didn't and even said he was a part of the offense last year and to me that was somewhat of an omission that he was part of the problem. So he kinda took a run at himself too.

Actually he said they didn't tell him the truth, meaning they were liars.

"Matt, you're not a good QB, Bolden is struggling, and PJ is out for the year, so we're kind of stuck with you." Yeah, the TRUTH would have went over great...

Probably because they knew he was the only option at QB.

PJ couldn't suit up. Bolden was far from golden and you don't want to put in a 4th string QB.

Because he has a history now of saying dumb things and acting dumb too. It's one thing if it's the first time he said something controversial, but it's not.

Look at his past interviews....he takes cheap shots ANYtime he can. In bad games, he talks about "WE", but in good games, it's all "I". He is so quick to blame others and play the "everyone against me" card that it's sickening. As mentioned, he could have easily come in and been a hero....a guy who comes out of nowhere and plays consistent and helps the team win. But this attitude of his kills any desire many have to cheer for him.

MM clearly stated they were lied to by the previous group. Cheap shot. No reason for that. He tried to justify it with the old "i won't say anything about our previous offense...but...." All he should ever say is "I am thankful for the opportunity I've had here for 4 years. No other place wanted to give me that shot. Jay and Joe did....I'm thankful to simply be on the team and competing." That's it. Nothing else.

He comes off as a little brown-nosing P.O.S.

"Yes Coach O'Brien, let me do your laundry and tell you everything you want to hear so that I can play."

    He's like Dwight Schrute

So he's the assistant head coach? Or is that the assistant to the head coach?

You have never seen Jones or Bolden do that interview have you?

    No.

But you're right. Especially when he says "I dont want to say anything bad about last years offense because I was on it." it really comes off as a high moral, high class kid right there. Wow. You really have the McGloin ass kissing glasses on to get that he said in anyway that he was part of the problem... when in reality... he absolutely was.

HIS Selfishness to refuse to talk to Bolden during games they were splitting time in to try to get reads on what the defense was doing and give Bolden the same HURT our team and was completely "ME! ME! ME!" instead of "TEAM".

HIS lack of talent contributed to the lack of scheme we were able to play.

So yeah... Maybe he should have come out and said "Hey, I'm not that good of a quarterback, so they didnt want to hand me the reigns and when they did, they had to limit what we did on offense". That would have been TRUTH as you say.

Say what you want about the old staff, but when we had good quarterbacks like in say 2005 and 2008, NOBODY was complaining about our offense or scheme.

SMH to the guy who sees nothing wrong with what McGloin said.
Calling your former coach a liar is OK?
    Hmmm....

By the way, where does Dwight Schrute live?
