McGloin Q&A

  • I think it's safe to say JayPa is not missed.

Q&A: Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin talks about the new offense

McGloin talks about why the new coaching staff has made the battle for the No. 1 spot easier on all the quarterbacks.

As a football "coach," not missed by me either.

  • Some how its possible, but I came out of that hating McGloin and Jay even more.

  • McGloin is annoying. Let's see how much he likes the new staff if he gets benched.

  • At least McGloin is being honest.

100% Agree. McGloin is nothing but a back up QB at this level. If he's that good (in his own mind) he needs to listen better and read the words written about him and the current 'stable' of QB's we have.

If McG was a true team player he would reconize this and work with PJ to keep his grades in good standing. PJ showed more talent in 90 mins of the BW game than any of the other three combined. I do believe that McGreager showed well at the BW game, but PJ is the better of the two.

If McG were truthfull with himself, the only thing that he has done is take advantage of a position on this team that lacked talent at the position for two year. I give McG all the credit for his will over NW for JoePa's 400 win, but NO consistantsy. As a matter of fact, Rob Boldin needs to wake up as well and listen to option if any. He is NOT A D1 QB. BoB needs to take the talent Rob has, his height, weight and ability to read offences and move into a roll of a DB. Or maybe the roll of a slot recevier on offence.

We have one more year of this, With Bench coming in this year and Hack comming in next year we ahve PP style QB's that have 1. A dedicated coach (Fisher) and a world class HC/OC in BoB.

  • I agree on one hand what Mcgloin is saying. On the other hand watching him play made me realize even with better communication, better play calling, and better teaching, McGloin is still McGloin.

  • If you want to talk smack about the former coaches with your friends that's fine, but he is very foolish to start running his mouth to the press. NFL QB isn't in his future and he will have to interview for a job some day. Basically calling your former coaches liars to the press because you didn't like what they were telling you isn't an endearing quality. Very few people want some cocky kid that is going to question what they say and do on their staff.

McGloin was being a classless jerk, as usual. Seems to me that the previous O staff received more than their fair share of crap already. One was fired by telephone and died two months later, one lost his job and his father, one became a national pariah and is basically in hiding, and the others were let go. A simple "we really like the new offense", with some details, would have sufficed, without the piling on. Notice that EVERY OTHER player that has spoken publicly has refused to go down this road. McGloin better send a thank-you note every single day to Pat Devlin, because if not for Pat leaving he never would have seen the field at PSU, or any other major D1 institution.

    Go PJ go. pray

Funny, the ineptitude of the previous regime is the only reason he is
    1. On the team
    2. Kept playing after terrible performances on and off the field

This kid can't be an insurance salesman in west Scranton fast enough.

  • It tells me all I need to know about both people.

Jay: Horrible coach that never should have been hired. HOWEVER, an amazing son and father to his children.
McGloin: He's no talent and no class.

    FireJayPa

  • I don't know when I cringe more, when he releases a pass or when he opens his mouth. shrug

I don't know if there are a dozen PSU fans disappointed that Jay is no longer QB coach, but honestly, let's talk to the future already and stop sniping at the past.

  • I really like the sound of this!

Q: In what way is this offensive system better than the old one?

McGloin: In a lot of ways. I'm not trying to say anything bad about the offense that was here before, because I was a part of it. But [in 2011], we might break the huddle with one play. Now, we are going to break the huddle with two to three plays that we can run, and it's up to the quarterback to make the decision what we are going to run.

    That sums it up.

This kid gives more reasons every time he opens his mouth to not like him. He wouldn't have been anywhere near a D1 top 3 depth chart if it weren't for the people he's badmouthing. Doesn't surprise me one bit from him. It's him against the world and it's always someone else's fault.

I'm waiting for him to say "Oh....my interview was hacked....that wasn't me who said all that."

To be fair, he got a lot of help being a D1 QB from the fact that Bolden stinks.

    so....

    1) Devlin left
    2) Jay and Joe
    3) Bolden hasn't produced
    4) Jones hasn't produced

All those reasons are why he's around....none of which are because he's good.

    You forgot Newsome left.

If Joe wasn't a part time coach he never sniffs te team. Yet he trashes them. Totally believable and expected from this 5th year senior.

Isn't that what I said (#3)? For as much as people don't like Mox-daddy, only a select few would take Bolden over him right now.
