I think the best part of yesterday's game re: McGloin is that he didn't play his best, but did not cost us the game. He has learned to take what the defense gives him on most occasions.

Not ready to call him sensational yet... Let's not get ahead of ourselves. He's very much improved. Happy with progress, but sensational is quite a stretch. I'm coming around on him too.

McGloin was only average yesterday yet we still scored 35 points on the road against a B10 team. That's a well coached offense if you ask me.
McGloin is playing the way you would expect an experienced fifth year senior QB to play. And BOB and Fisher have designed an offense and tailored the play calling in a way that allows McGloin to play within himself and play to his strength.

And so it begins...If he was "sensational", we'd be 5-0. He's been much improved, but played pretty poorly overall yesterday and left a lot of points on the field, stalling drives and missing easy open receivers. The best part is that we won, in convincing fashion. He hasn't been asked to do too much (he can't carry the team, otherwise again we'd be undefeated), but it's good to see that he can manage a game well against poor competition. That is an improvement of sorts. He isn't sensational or a team leader. That would be Mr. Mauti.

All you can ask of your QB is to put the team in a position to win games, and McGloin has done that so far this season. #1, he has limited his turnovers. It was not his fault we gave up a 90 yard drive to Ohio, and it's not his fault our kicker missed 3 makeable field goals and an extra point.

So defensive leaders get a pass if they are popular, but if you don't like the kid you can say he isn't a leader. The final drive against UVa for him was a damn good one. If our defensive leaders were great they don't let Ohio march up and down on the field and convert something like 9 of 10 3rd down conversions, but its not fair to point out facts both ways I guess. MM will make more mistakes this year and will have bad games. ALL QB's have that and it tends to happen against tougher opponents. Yes OSU will shut down PSU's offense a hell of a lot more than Ill or Navy...go figure. It's one thing to say you are using facts, but it's another to ask for some balance.

What a perfect response. If you can't score, I guess you just move the goalposts....this thread is about your boy McGloin, is it not? If you'd like to discuss the shortcomings of our defense the first 2 weeks, there are plenty, but I would think that's a different topic than this thread, no? Maybe you can interject it into the Mauti for Heisman consideration thread that was here last week (oh wait, that was for McGloin).
No, I do not personally like Matt McGloin, have never hid that, and don't understand why anyone does. When Mike Mauti holds up the number of interceptions or sacks he has after he makes one, or yells at others when he is out of position or makes a mistake, or fails to join the rest of the team he supposedly leads for a singing of Navy Blue and Gold, I'll begin to question people calling him a leader (these are examples from the last 2 weeks. I can continue if you'd like).
I'm not sure if you're hungover or something but this is a pretty weak effort from you.

I didn't move any goalposts...just pointed out you have two separate sets of rules. Mauti sometimes overracts on big plays, but I don't mind it as it's a part of the game now. I work with a TON of people from Mandeville and always update them on Mauti's game. Hate on MM all you want to as to me it's beyond childish. I can see the kids in college maybe holding on to some juvenile grudge, but I'm close to 20 years his senior. I know plenty of people who were richards at that age and turned it around as they matured. I also know a few that never did...such is life. Continue all you want to on disliking a college kid as that is on you. I guess he somehow impacts your life. I know PSU and every other school isn't full of 100 perfect kids, but since this kid is under your microscope...keep on hatin. It's comical to me at this point. Don't worry, he'll have a bad game soon enough and you can come and tell everyone you knew it was coming.
No hangover, plenty of family time yesterday, but thanks for another juvenile weak shot. I don't expect much more from you though.

You fail to address and talk past every point I made, as is your way and wont. Let's just say it's an understatement to call McGloin and Mauti's behavior apples-to-oranges, but you're right, it's about my double standard all of a sudden (goalpost moved). It's funny how you mention how old you are and how immature I am, and then proceed to type the adult version of "I know you are but what am I"; well played.
My last point was not a shot at you at all, it was a shot at your post, which was unusually weak. But you're right, it's a beautiful day and refuting your nonsense isn't worth my time today.

Second, he deserves credit for improved decision making and limiting mistakes thusfar (though it's fair to say he regressed yesterday), but this idea that when anything goes well he gets credit and whatever goes wrong is not his fault is tiring and ridiculous.
