You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

  • If ND goes undefeated and gets left out of the MNC game they may consider joining a conference.

I think the plan all along was to add 1 school, get a championship game to make more $ and play longer. i don't think Delany was looking for more unless it was ND which I don't think will join a conference till they absolutely have to which I don't see happening any time soon.

They came awfully close to adding Texas, ND, Rutgers (believe it or not that was the plan), and one other school. We ending backing off of Rutgers and ND then had time to back out. The Texas opportunity became kaput. Publicly, Delany talked about one school, but behind the scenes, the goal was 16.

Personally, I like what the SEC did better in adding Mizzou and aTm. We ignored the Aggies at our own peril.

  • Well when your team has a linebacker playing QB I suppose you have a lot of time to write fiction like that.

Perhaps that was the plan but I would be cautious of adding schools like Texas and ND b/c they will look out for their own interests over those of the conference. Something I don't think Nebraska will do.

They would join the ACC for football. They don't join the ACC for all sports, absent football, but have an arrangement to play five ACC schools per year only to flip its football program to the BIG.

Ga. Tech in the BIG. LOL. Exactly, what do they bring except baseball and men's golf? Men's hoops sucks now and football is well - on par with Maryland. Tech doesn't even bring you the Atlanta market.

So, if one guy claims to know they are at least talking, but some are claiming it is to kick PSU out? That is nothing more than uneducated guesses.

I actually like GaTech, although Paul Johnson is finding out that just because you're in a better conference doesn't mean you can recruit kids who want to play in the flexbone offense.

Men's golf is very good, and they bring in potential exposure in Atlanta. It's like 75/25 UGA to GaTech fans, maybe less in Atlanta.

Ga. Tech is far down the list as far as the Atlanta market. Hell, I think there are just as many Auburn people in Atlanta than Tech people.

So, you would bring in Tech just for baseball and men's golf and get 5% of the Atlanta market? Not a wise move. Tech adds little really.

I think Tech gets more interesting to fans if they are competing against Michigan, OSU, and I am assuming still PSU.

  • While it would've been fun beating the aggies for a few more years as a student, aTm only has close to a majority in the Houston market, and at best a quarter of the DFW market.

While it gave the SEC an in for Texas recruiting, TV wise it wasn't all that great IMO. If we're talking strictly TV money, it's tea sippers or bust in Texas. OU had a big following in DFW, but not Houston or San Antonio. It's obvious, but the only team worth taking from Texas is Texas IMO.

LOL... and aliens impregnated Betty White. Read it all while in the grocery check out lane. We still a cash cow for the B10. Would love to jump ship for a conference that values us and wants us, but we are stuck with this conference due to dollars and cents, though we will neither really belong nor be treated fairly/welcomed.

I'm confused.....you say you are a cash cow for the BIG thus they wouldn't kick you out although you'd love to leave...then in the next sentence you say you are stuck in this conference due to dollars and cents...impying that the BIG is worth too much money for you to leave....Which is it? You're worth too much for the Big to kick out or the Big is worth too much for you to leave?

If both of those are true, then sounds like a perfect fit, thus quit bitching abou leaving the BIG....

It is both, but the want to leave by us fans has nothing to do with money. You know that.

My point is, it can't be too expensive because everyone has made it clear that the BIG needs PSU more than PSU needs the BIG...If the ACC would make you as much money, and you'll bring so much more money to them then there is absolutely no reason to stay in the BIG.....I just think it's amazing this topic is talked about every week of every month on this board....Unless I hear the admin at PSU talking to the ACC, or the BIG talking about removing PSU I'd probably not waste energy on the subject....Obviously the only people that matter and can make the decision, and know what's best for the institution must believe you are in the conference that best suits your needs, far above just football....

Why does it offend you? Why do you care that many of us would favor the ACC due largely to having the ability to play regional teams that we can drive to? Is that so horrible?

Seriously, you have worn out your welcome here long ago. Your posts have turned passive aggressive. Go back to Bucknuts and discuss this with them. You opinion isn't resonating on this board.
