Makes you wonder what football talent is on campus...

  • This is my first time hearing about him. A former Penn State lacrosse player is turning some heads in the Miami Dolphins training camp. The link below shows a clip from the show Hard Knocks of him in action and discusses the buzz around the story. An interesting story, and I wish him luck on making the team.

  • I've always joked about this, but I have maintained that 65% of ppl I met at psu were all-league in something in high school. Here in my hometown I am considered a meathead...and at the white building on any given night I was in the 55th percentile for size.

  • He's from NJ, was a pretty good football player coming out of HS but came to PSU for lacrosse. Tore up his knee one season, graduated PSU and went to Monmouth for a season to play 1-AA (FCS, whatever). He was Penn State's best midfielder (IMO) when he was healthy.

    "Hogan was also a superb football player in high school, earning first team all-league laurels twice and first team all-state accolades as a senior. He was named to the Jersey Football Top 100 and was on the Tri-State Heisman Team as well."

    Chuck Crist played seven years in the NFL in the 70s after never playing a down of football for Penn State but playing hoops here for four years, so it wouldn't be the first time a non-football playing Penn Stater made it in the NFL.

    Agreed. Does anyone know whether the coaching staff is looking to track, lacrosse or any other PSU athletes for talent?

    should at least look at soccer players to compete for kicking jobs because I doubt we will be spending a scholarship on them in the upcoming classes

    Athletically, yes, but he was so brittle on the bball court I doubt he would have lasted long on the gridiron..........Campus is full of quality athletes that probably could have played in the PSAC or DIII but opted to actually have a life during college...can't blame them

    Always was amazed at the basketball talent in the IM building. I thought I would come in there and dominate, but it had a few courts full of High School stars that just were not D1 material.

    Intramural leagues were competitive in all sports.
