we generated better chances this period than all of last game. Not many of our better ones even produced a sog, though. Kind of hard to score without that.

First period thoughts:

-Unbelievable tempo to the game, back and forth throughout the entire period. Yesterday the first period didn't match the pace of this one.

-Top line of Bailey-Holstrom-Gardiner again created the most chances.

-Defenseman have been pinching and putting themselves in the offensive play more frequently so far.

-Skoff was solid, made the saves he needed to. Also got some help from the defensemen in front of him making a few timely blocks.

-Shots are 11-10 in favor of Wisconsin.

-Penalty kill looked shaky at times, guys over-compensating for the amount of space and skating past their assignments. Wisconsin had a number of open looks towards goal.

I bet you $500 that wrestling or women's volleyball wins a national championship before all three of these teams. Considering wrestling is back to back national champs, and looking strong for a third, I'd say that is currently our best sport. Not including fencing because I stopped caring about fencing when I left campus.

Nothing wrong with looking like Crosby Drew, unless you are one of those fans of the orange and black.

Skoff just kept this game scoreless on about four separate occasions. Great saves there. Wisconsin keeping some more pressure here, there's been some close calls.

Four guys deep in the zone, then Yanis makes a mistake diving for the puck. He missed, 2-on-0 and Wisconsin capitalizes.

1-0 Wisconsin leads with 3:19 to go in the 2nd.

Skoff couldn't do anything about that. He has kept the boys in the game with a brilliant performance. This is all about getting more talent.

4-on-3 could make things interesting. LOTS of open space...

Thoughts:

-Wisconsin took it to Penn State for the majority of the period, but it still had that open feel to it.

-Badgers notched 20 shots that period.

-As I stated before, Yanis can't leave his feet to dive for that puck as the only defenseman back. Also didn't need to have 4 guys below the hash marks.

-Like the chances Penn State created, need to get better shots on net to challenge the Badgers keeper.

-Overall much better from the Lions, we'll see if they can keep the intensity up for the final period of the season.
