    Just wondering...will this affect OSU in their search for a coach? I'm guessing it does, as I'm once agin guessing the NCAA will REALLY look into OSU now that they see Tressel has been lying.

    Kind of sad...I was always a semi-defender of Tressel and OSU.

  • Yea what a turn of events. I actually liked Tressel thinking that he was not a cheater and did things the right way. I know many OSU friends wish he would resign or be fired but I dont know if I see that happening.

  • Not buying this rumor. The entire state of Ohio is on his side despite all the lies. Heck, even the President said he is hoping Tressel doesn't fire him. If he does resign, this is nothing but praying to God the NCAA doesn't do more to OSU football.

  • Honestly, I thought him resigning was inevitable. You don't lie to the NCAA 3 times and keep your job.

    Also, this cheating with Tressel is nothing new... He was a very very dirty recruiter and Youngstown State...but then again who isn't now a days...

  • If this is true, awfully hard to get a head coach right now. It would be interesting to see if OSU contacts Meyer. Urban will need to do some serious explaining to the nation, especially Florida fans, if he takes the job. I assume Gruden's name will appear as well, but ... I just can't see a big named guy with a current job, like a Stoops, take that job now.

    It's Ohio State. They won't have a problem, and I'd guess Bob Stoops will be heading East. Also wouldn't be surprised to see Urban Meyer go over as a "caretaker" just for this season, and then Ohio State hires Bob Stoops after he wins a title.

    Meyer would look like an as*hat if he did that. Stoops wins a title where? Are you talking Big 12 title, right? If you were a high profile coach, would you want to jump to OSU now, not knowing what the NCAA has coming? I guess Kiffin did it at USC. Then again, he knew the NCAA would be coming after Tennessee, so he bolted.

  • Didn't TWO coaches turn down USC...Riley and the Jags coach. I imagine similar things will be happening with OSU.

    NCAA Investigating your school=bad.

    Why would Stoops leave a program like OU to go to O$U while they're being investigated? OU is an elite program, Stoops moving to OSU wouldn't be an improvement in my opinion.

    National. They're poised to do HUGE things this year. I see them blowing out FSU and Texas. They have A&M at home, and OSU won't be nearly as good without Holgerson.

    Stoops is from Ohio - Youngstown. OSU fans have their collective lists and Meyer and Stoops are among those lists. They are thinking because he is from the state, he'd have interest. It's like some PSU fans thinking Ferentz would have interest in PSU job because he is from PA.

    Blowing out Texas and FSU isn't a biggie this year IMO. Big 12 will be DOWN. Nationally, Stoops will blow it in the BCS bowl game. He can't win a big game to save his life. JMO ... anytime OU is poised to have a big year, they blow it.

    Stoops isn't going anywhere. OU isn't as big up here, but it is an elite program nationally. He wouldn't improve his standing whatsoever with a move North. The only reasons he would do so would be family related or personal nostalgia, as he played at Iowa.

    Stoops has been interested in other jobs. I wouldn't say he is going to stay forever.

  • I still can't find anything else on this rumor except for this board and the 24/7 main board where it was started by a PSU poster. Any idea where this originated? There's been tons of rumors regarding Urban Meyer coaching at OSU in the near future, I'm just wondering if there's any truth to either of these rumors.

    Have no idea if its true, but how would Buckeye Nation feel about Meyer. If he takes the job, if offered, he essentially lied to Florida about his health issues and want to spend more time with the family.
