Lions target 2014 No. 1 Da'Shawn Hand

Things are coming at such a fast pace for Class of 2014 defensive end Da'Shawn Hand, it's hard to believe that he still hasn't finished his sophomore year.

I agree...I read it the same way. We are not a growing program. Oregon is a growing program. We are a powerhouse historically, above average good team for the last 10 years, and rebounding back into elite status where we belong.

People like myself that have perspective of going back to Joe's first year realize the program is a ways from what it once was. Not only that, but in recent years it was not at the top tier of the conference. There are a lot of reasons for that but it all comes down to Joe not retiring at the right time. How many recruits sitting out there today have actually seen PSU play in one BCS bowl game? I'm not looking for an argument and you can disagree all you want, but being an above average good team for 10 years is not what Penn State once was.

While I agree with the rest of what you said, this argument is weak. USC's last BCS bowl game was against PSU. People wouldn't call USC growing. (granted they were on probation as well).

  • it may be lining up to be the perfect time for PSU to play UVA....gotta go out and smack them on the field and we might be able to grab some attention from these 2014 guys that will surely be in attendance as UVA is already in on a ton of these guys too.

I have said this previously, lock down va, put some finishing moves on rutgers in a few years, do the same in jersey, repeat with Pitt .....lock down our strong areas just in time for all the West Coast fun to start....

Locking down VA is a bit much. That ain't happening. Getting two quality players from there isn't out of the question. VPI will get its fair share of players from VA. In state kids seem to relate to London at UVA. If London continues the progress with that program, it will be even harder to poach kids from VA. Could you have meant lock down PA?

  • I think we have to take into account the fact that so many of these kids from the South that are on this list have had more opportunity to be evaluated.. So many of these kids are playing spring football so they are getting a chance to showcase how they are developing much sooner than kids in states where there isnt spring football.. Also, I think the fact that they have spring football is a huge factor in the overall talent gap that exists between some southern states and some northern states..

  • We can be the premier program in VA. VA Choke has hit its peak and soon will be like us with Joe the longer Beamer Stays.

London scares me but they lack the tradition.

Great GREAT time to come in and WHOOP UVAs asss.

I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said.

Tech will always run that area, but there is no reason IMO we should lose any serious recruit to UVA

  • Kid seems very composed and mature for what...a sixteen/seventeen year old.

    Would be a great get.

I watched a video interview with him on one of the recruiting sites and this kid screams Penn State. He comes across as very intelligent, well-spoken, knowledgeable about what he wants in a school, and driven to achieve it. I have a sneaking suspicion you'll be hearing a lot more from him in regards to Penn State as his recruitment blossoms, especially with LJ on the case.
