  • Even assuming there are players that we verbally offer every year that don't give PSU any reciprocal interest so we never hear about the offers, we've seen more offers this year -- and more offers early -- than any year I can remember since I've been following PSU recruiting.

    Speaking of that...did anybody else catch the USA Today article on Jadaveon Clowney? Supposedly, we were the first written offer to come through the fax line at his HS on Sep 1. I thought that was amusing.

    That is an interesting tidbit on Clowney.

    I heard stories of players PSU offered back in the 90s that I never knew we were involved with. For example, apparently Rex Grossman, Chris Simms, and Eli Manning were all identified by PSU as its top QB targets back in 1998(?). I know that everyone expected Simms to come to PSU but I was surprised to hear we offer Manning and Grossman.

    For all the faults of this staff, they do a really good job of raw talent evaluation. It is the follow-up job of selling the program that is sometimes questionable. :-)
