Penn State added its second commitment of the week and the 11th in it's Class of 2011 on Friday night, as kicker Sam Ficken accepted an offer from the Nittany Lions.

I'm sure some people won't be thrilled about this offer, but I'm happy with it. Kicking is important and I hope he can step in next season like they're asking. The only thing I'm worried about is the offer being a result of others going elsewhere.

Any reason Fera isn't getting a shot at pk? he has one hell of a boot

Sounds like he isn't accurate. Looks like Ficken has good leg strength (Probably a bit stronger than Wagner's), and is more accurate than Fera. Fera may be able to make a 60 yard field goal, but the very next attempt could miss a 35 yard FG. Bottom line...Ficken sounds to be more consistent. Good leg strength and better accuracy.

I agree. It's nice to have a kicker that can make 50+ yarders, but I rather have a guy like Kelly that never missed inside the 40 his senior year.

Found my own answer. Yes, he was a soccer player.
